[VIDEO] Speed Phenom Checks Out These Crazy Corvette Prices from Barrett-Jackson

YouTuber Speed Phenom heads to Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale with the purpose of watching a 2022 Corvette C8.R edition in Hypersonic Gray cross the auction block. As you may know, Speed Phenom owns the VIN 008 2022 Corvette C8.R edition also in Hypersonic Gray and he has made no bones that the car is just temporary until the 2023 Corvette Z06 comes along.

Chevrolet will have built 1,000 versions of the limited C8.R editions as it completes the series in the next few weeks. This one crossing the auction block is number 191 with only 10 original miles. Austin captures the hot and heavy bidding for the car and when it was all said and done, the car hammered for $300,000!!

Talk about the seller of this car offering it at the right place at the right time! A 6-mile 2020 Corvette C8.R edition in Hypersonic Gray also was offered at Mecum’s Kissimmee auction two weeks ago and that car sold for “only” $165,000.

Speed tracked down the C8.R edition following its record-breaking sale and gives it a once over before turning his attention to a Black 1LT Stingray sitting next to the C8.R edition. That car has some custom pinstriping as well as the Stingray-R graphics and it sold for $155,000! Another 2021 Corvette Convertible with the 3LT trim package, Stingray R graphics, and custom Forgiato wheels sold for $170,000!

1LT Corvette Sells for $155K

Afterwards, Speed finds another sold C8 that was part of the group of Corvettes previously used by Chevrolet as CTF and show cars. The first one he sees is a non-Z51 2020 Corvette Stingray in 1LT trim package that sold for $99,000.

As Speed Phenom wraps up the video, he calls out the losing bidder on the $300,000 C8.R sale and suggests he’ll make a deal on the number 008 C8.R edition if that buyer is still interested.

  1. Right!!!! $300,000.00 for it! Perhaps someone should track the sale to see if it actually changed ownership? Remember the 5 Hemi-Cudas that each sold for over a million bucks? What did those same cars sell for 1 year later????

  2. Too much alcohol and too many people with more money than sense after too much alcohol!!! I bet they don’t charge 12.00 a beer or 20.. per drink. More like 2 bucks per drink
