Just heard through the grapevine and confirmed with a Chevrolet dealer rep that the 5ZZ Carbon Flash Metallic High Wing is out of stock and therefore there is a 100% national constraint for the popular 4-post spoiler.

So that there are no delays, GM is stripping the High Wing from orders moving forward.

We originally caught this news over at the Corvette Forum where a member yesterday posted about the constraint. He said he still had options for his non-Z51 HTC in terms of either switching it to Low Profile spoiler (which uses the same mounts as the High Wing so it can easily be swapped out later for it) or just have it stripped from the order and purchase it through GM Accessories when it becomes available again.

This constraint comes on the heels from last week’s news that the vendor of the Carbon Fiber Engine Appearance Package is exiting the business at the end of the month, and so all Engine Appearance Packages are also being stripped from orders.

We did check the Chevrolet Corvette Accessories page for the Carbon Flash Metallic High Wing and found it still listed on the website. That’s in spite of our dealer rep telling us he has looked at ordering from parts and says they weren’t available there either.

Back in 2020, the High Wings went on a national constraint beginning in July that lasted for nearly the rest of the year.

If you do have an order for a 2022 still coming up and have the High Wing optioned for your Stingray, you might want to check with your dealer regarding the contraint and discuss how it may affect your build.

  1. I heard that tires are also in high demand and on back order, so they are going to start shipping new C8s without them. You can get aftermarket tires when your car comes in.

  2. Hmmm gee I don’t know Kevin, what do you think? I guess GM just really doesn’t want to give customers high wings any more….. Oh yeah sorry I just woke up from under a rock for the last 2 years and forgot there was a pandemic with supply shortages everywhere…Get a clue

  3. […] Corvette Blogger reports that the automaker has started to remove High Wing spoilers on 2022 Corvette orders due to the number already on backorder as well as constraints. This means that those who ordered a new ‘Vette with the spoiler will either need to opt to have no spoiler at all or have their car’s fitted with the Low Profile spoiler. Once supplies of the High Wing option are improved, it will be once again available through GM Accessories to purchase. Nevertheless, it must be noted that Corvette Blogger checked for the High Wing Spoiler Kit in Carbon Flash Metallic, part number 85001066, in the Chevrolet Corvette Accessories website and it was still there, listed at $995.
