If you’re interested in the upcoming Callaway Corvette C8 “Launch Edition,” you might want to head to this weekend’s Corvettes at Carlisle where the car will be making its public debut.

Corvettes at Carlisle, billed as the world’s largest Corvette event with more than 5,000 Corvettes gathered, is slated for Thursday, Aug. 26 through Saturday, Aug. 28 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

Callaway factory staff will be on hand to answer questions about the new package – described by the company as “a group of powerfully engineered components designed to enhance several Corvette C8 performance characteristics.” No details on exact performance figures have been released by the company, but it’s rumored to be in the neighborhood of at least 600 horsepower, up considerably from the stock 495 horsepower.

Callaway Cars will have a display tent on the Carlisle Manufacturers Midway, where staff members will present the new products and support purchases of Callaway’s Show Specials. C7-based Callaway Corvette SC757s will also be on hand, including one equipped with the new Callaway HD Cooling Package.

  • Callaway Exterior Badging
  • Authentication Documentation Package
  • Callaway Forged C8 Wheel Set
  • Double-D Exhaust System
  • Carbon Fiber Rear Diffuser
  • Callaway Interior Group with Callaway Alcantara Horn Cover, Callaway Door Sill Panels, Callaway Billet Pedal Pad Set, Callaway Embroidered Floor Mats.

Last month, company founder Reeves Callaway told Autoweek that the Callaway C8 won’t be available until sometime next year.

“What we have to do from a product point of view is slotted to the product plan in the correct way,” Callaway told Autoweek. “And what that means for us is, we can’t compete with any model that General Motors produces, we have to be an additive to whatever model we choose. And whatever model makes the most sense, though we don’t want to be in a position where people have to choose between a Callaway and a General Motors standard product, we want them to always think of the standard product as enhanced by Callaway’s approach. So generally, we choose the top performing model and do something to it.”

  1. Given its proposed horsepower (around 600hp) and timing (sometime next year), how could the Callaway C8 Launch Edition not end up competing to at least some extent with the new Z06?

  2. Seems to me like the Callaway C8 may be somewhat competitive with the Z06 and likely much less expensive, but many numbers are yet to be revealed on both. However, I am guessing the Z will have a much wider footprint and cooler styling/colors.

  3. Very nice car! I have the impression that the base for the Callaway C8 is the ZO6, because the look looks very much like it. Compare the pictures of the C8.R next to the C8 ZO6 in Le Mans.
The rear air intake is 100% C8 ZO6 as you can see.
Why should Callaway build on the C8 base when the performance is better with the ZO6 and the C8 Hybrid.
    Let’s wait.
