The Corvette Museum's Stingray Grill is Reimagined with a Modern Atmosphere and New Menu

One of the major renovations to take place at the National Corvette Museum in the last year is the in-house restaurant. Formerly, the Corvette Cafe offered traditional “diner food” with matching 1950s-style decor, but that’s all gone now as the Stingray Grill is set to open next week.

WNKY-TV featured the new Stingray Grill this week in a segment that shows off the renovations and a couple of dishes. The whole front area that opens up inside the museum has been been opened up with windows replacing the old glass-block decor while a new dedicated seating area outside has also been updated.

Kelvin Williams was hired on as the Head Chef of the new Stingray Grill and it’s been his responsibility to create a whole new menu for the C8 Corvette-themed eatery.

“It’s been a bumpy road because we are building it from the ground up. So things happened to push our timeline back, but other than that it’s been great working with the Corvette people, working with my sous chef, and coming up with this great menu.”

One of the signature items on the menu is the Stingray Burger which consists of 25% elk, 25% wild boar, 25% bison, and 25% wagyu beef. The burger is uniquely seasoned and then built with arugula, a slice of Granny Smith apple, smoked cheddar cheese, bacon slices, and more.

“Just the freshness and tartness of the apple goes well with the saltiness of the bacon, the spiciness of the arugula, and like I said it doesn’t seem like it works, but when you taste it, you’re happy…your palate and tastebuds are happy,” says Kelvin.

The other big change for the Stingray Grill is they are gearing up to serve cocktails. Might we suggest they offer up our favorite Bourbon/Diet Coke combo that our Detroit Bureau famously nicknamed “The Fuelie?”

We are very much looking forward to sampling the new menu when we visit the NCM early next month for the 27th Anniversary Celebration. Unfortunately, we can’t embed this video segment here, but you can watch the video at WNKY.com.

  1. Had the chicken salad sandwich this past weekend. Large enough to feed two. Server was fantastic. Food was probably a 7 out of 10. Good start but give the salad a little zing or taste of its own. Decor was inviting and not too lavish. Overall, a good place for a light lunch.
