At the start of today’s episode of the CORVETTE TODAY Podcast, I give the latest stats on new Corvette production as I always like to do. But since it’s been a little bit since our last Corvette production update, I wanted to break out this info for everyone because there is good news in these numbers!

Last week’s production of the 2021 Corvette was the ninth consecutive week of production without a parts-related stoppage. The production team has averaged about 175 cars per day over that time period with the highest day coming June 8th (192) and July 23rd being the lowest production day (117).

Last Friday, the plant completed 186 Corvettes during the two shifts and the final car produced was VIN 22299.

We now have confirmation that TPW (Target Production Week) notices have been issued to customers for the week of September 13th, which means that week is potentially the final week of production for the 2021 model year. It’s also potentially the first week of production for the 2022s. GM insiders continue to tell us that their #1 priority is to build all 2021 orders at 3000 status which explains why the current end dates have been flexible.

Should the week of September 13th be the final week of 2021 model year production, that means there are still six weeks of production left for the current model year. Based on the current average production, there are approximately another 5,000 waiting to be built!

As the first 2022 Order Consensus is already behind us, we learned that orders for the IMSA GTLM Championship Edition may have been prioritized as we heard from several buyers that their orders for the C8.R special edition were accepted during the first round.

Finally, we’ll know on Wednesday or Thursday this week if the next order consensus is starting for the 2022 model year.

That’s the latest on the Corvette production news front. Check back here at CorvetteBlogger for any updates! Thanks again to those at GM who are working hard to get us our C8 Corvettes!

  1. My C8 HTC is TPW this week. It’s been a long wait … thank you Mike Furman for handling my order so effortlessly. Look forward to picking it up in Gaithersburg just prior to Corvette Carlisle then driving it over to see all the great new and old Corvettes 🙂 Then its on to Ron Fellows at Spring Mountain in October.
