Last Thursday at the National Corvette Museum’s Bash Event, we watched as the covers were removed to reveal three new exterior colors for the 2022 Corvette. The new colors were displayed on rear fender panels and are called Hypersonic Gray (GA7), Amplify Orange Tintcoat (GC5), and Caffeine Brown Metallic (G48).
Staff members of the NCM took those new fenders over to the NCM Motorsports Park where there are a number of new 2021 Corvettes awaiting R8C Museum Delivery. Under a bright Kentucky sun, they held up those panels to the current exteriors to give us a great idea of how the new colors compare and contrast.
For me, the most interesting is Hypersonic Gray. If you take that panel by itself, it looks sort of like Silver Flare. But then when you put it next to Silver Flare, it has a nice gunmetal appearance to it.
For me, the most interesting is Hypersonic Gray. If you take that panel by itself, it looks sort of like Silver Flare. But then when you put it next to Silver Flare, it has a nice gunmetal appearance to it. In our highly unscientific poll we ran on Friday, we asked which of the three new colors is your favorite, and surprisingly, you told us that it’s Caffeine Metallic, followed by Hypersonic Gray and Amplify Orange. We also noticed that the largest percentage of respondents at 31% selected “one of the carryover colors” which tells us nearly 1 in 3 enthusiasts do not care for these new colors at all. Hopefully, these new comparisons will cause you to take another look.
