The First 2021 Corvette Wearing VIN 001 is Delivered at the National Corvette Museum

The owner of the first 2021 Corvette took delivery this morning at the National Corvette Museum.

We learned last month the first retail 2021 Corvette would be a Torch Red Z51 Coupe with Black full-length racing stripes and yellow brake calipers. This morning we tuned into the NCM Webcams as the car was being presented to its new owner, Brian Bowling.

We had speculated that the VIN 001 car wouldn’t be going to just any “Joe Schmoe” and we were mostly correct with that assessment. Brian was the owner of a 2020 Corvette whose LT2 engine grenaded on the highway after he took delivery. The engine’s destruction left a trail of oil and apparently the car caught on fire as well.

We caught the news of the VIN 001 delivery this morning from our friends on the C8 Corvette Owners page on Facebook. The Facebook post comes with the pic of Brian’s R8C delivery plaque showing off his number 1 VIN:

Congratulations goes out to Brian M Bowling, Brian was at the museum today to take delivery of the first production 2021 Corvette. It’s great to see one of our members with Vin #1. When I saw his name I thought it sounded familiar. After looking back Brian also had a 2020 that had motor issues. While he was getting on the highway he left a trail of oil and caught on fire. The car had just over 500 miles on it. Looks like GM stepped up to the plate and took care of Brian?

It would have been easy for GM send this vehicle to an upcoming Barrett-Jackson auction or to offer it to a VIP customer, so it’s great to see Chevrolet taking care of its customers, especially those whose cars suffered from an unrepairable calamity as well as those customers who were bumped from 2020 to the 2021 model year.
