[VIDEO] Hennessey Races the 2020 Corvette vs a Rolls-Royce Wraith Because of Course They Did

When you’re such a capable supercar as the new mid-engine Corvette, you’re a target for everyone else.

But today’s video from Hennessey Performance takes the C8 challenge in an unexpected direction.

You may not be familiar with the Rolls-Royce Wraith, but it’s sort of a C8 for the Grey Poupon crowd. This gentleman’s two-door luxury coupe has an impressive twin-turbo V12 pushing out 623 horsepower and 642 lb-ft of torque good for a top speed of 155 mph and a 0 to 60 time of 4.3 seconds. While that power dwarfs the Stingray’s 495 horses and 470 lb-ft of torque, the Rolls’ weight also eclipses the Corvette’s by about 300 lbs.

The Rolls’ most interesting feature, though, may just be the umbrella hidden inside the front fender. If it’s raining, when you open the door and push a button, the umbrella opens to keep you and the car’s interior dry. Furthermore, the pouch that stores the umbrella is heated to enable faster drying.

Of course, you kind of expect such luxury from a car with an MSRP of $369,675.

So anyway, the good folks at Hennessey decided to have a little fun with their C8 Corvette, which is stock other than the addition of a Hennessey stainless-steel exhaust and see if it could beat a Rolls-Royce on the strip.

Hennessey obtained through Wraith from Freedom Supercars, a neat subscription program that lets members drive expensive cars like this Rolls or Ferraris or Lamborghinis while they take care of the maintenance and insurance.

In Run 1, both cars started from a rolling 30mph start, and the Corvette leaves the Rolls in the dust.

Then to make the challenge more interesting, the Corvette then started from a dog while spotting the Rolls a rolling 30mph start. Will the C8 still win? Watch the video to find out, but are you really unsure of the finish?

  1. Strange but true, my classic 2005 De Ville disappointed a Challenger that wanted to crush an old Caddy from the dig at a traffic light, somewhere in “Mexico!” The 290 HP Northstar Rocks!

  2. I fully expected a C8 victory and I wasn’t disappointed. That Rolls is a rather nice car but somewhat pricey. Why were the drivers messing with walkie talkies, no bluetooth ?
