On Friday morning we hopped a flight to Philly and eventually made our way to Kerbeck Corvette in Atlantic City for the East Coast Reveal of the 2020 Corvette Stingray. The “World’s Largest Corvette Dealer” had the first showing of the new 2020 Corvette on the eastern leg of the C8’s Dealer Tour and they didn’t disappoint.
Kerbeck rolled out the red carpet for the new exotic sports car. On the Kerbeck lot were several dozen new C7 Corvettes for sale. The building that houses Kerbeck’s substantial collection of Corvettes and other significant Chevrolets held the C8 Reservation Center where guests could meet with Kerbeck’s reps to place their orders. Also on hand were vendors that included the National Corvette Museum’s store, NCM Insurance Agency, Ron Fellow’s Performance Driving School, and the artwork of Dana Forrester.
Across the street at the former Bader airfield, the C8 Corvette and its mobile showroom were set up in the middle of the field. The black Corvette Stingray tour trailer was parked to the side and rows of Corvettes driven in by attendees lined the old runways. A huge tent was set up so enthusiasts could sit and relax while food trucks served up meals and ice cream cones. The Kerbeck girls were there to pass out the official C8 Corvette reveal posters.
As we showed up mid-morning on Friday, a sizeable crowd surrounded the main attraction which was the 2020 Corvette Stingray in Sebring Orange. The Sebring Orange exterior absolutely shined under the bright sun while the Sky Cool Gray interior looks like the perfect oasis on a hot day. Nearly 6,000 people had pre-registered for the event and because the crowd was so large, GM’s event planners had to put up the barricades so that everyone could get good photos of the car from all sides.
The C8 Corvette product specialist named Rich did an excellent job over the two days answering any and all questions about the 2020 Corvette Stingray Coupe that was on display. He also took many photos of the interior and engine compartment for enthusiasts who would pass him their cell phones.
Behind the Corvette was an air-conditioned tent holding all the C8 show boards featuring wheel options, colors, and seat examples. A configurator for enthusiasts to build their own dream car was set up and videos from the Corvette Stingray’s rollout played on a loop.
This 2020 Corvette Stingray has the Z51 performance package with the 3LT interior. Other options include magnetic ride shocks and the front end lift system which we saw demonstrated at the end of Friday’s event. The VIN of this particular car is 1G1Y82D44L50079EX – the EX specifying that it is a pre-production prototype.
On Saturday morning another good crowd assembled and we watched as the cover was pulled off the Corvette Stingray to kick off Day Two of the East Coast Reveal. We talked with several attendees about their opinion of the new Corvette Stingray and all were very positive about the car. The one person that didn’t want to talk with us said he was a Porsche guy and mumbled something about going to find his Corvette friend. Some of the attendees came from as far away as Indiana, South Carolina, and Canada to see the new car. You can watch our East Coast Reveal video here:
Learning More About the 2020 Stingray Every Day
From being around the car for two days, we learned a few more minor details
Because they had the doors and rear hatch open so attendees could get pictures, the battery was disconnected so that it wouldn’t drain. That means we got to see them accessing the battery which lies under a black trim panel in the frunk. To access the car when the power was disconnected, the key fob contains a key that inserted under the driver’s side scoop to open the door.
An interesting design feature is noticeable when you stand directly behind the car. You will notice that the passenger-side exterior mirror sticks out a bit further than the driver’s side mirror, most likely to give the driver a view around the C8’s rear haunches. You can see differences in the mirror mounts in photos 59-60 in the gallery below.
The chin spoiler on the Sebring Orange Coupe has a textured finish to it and is a matte black instead of the expected Carbon Flash.

We’ve got a ton of photos to share from the weekend and will lay them out in our gallery format for easy viewing. Clicking the image will give you a larger view on desktops and laptops while mobile uses should just stretch the photo to zoom in.
It was great seeing so many friends there as well as meeting some new ones. I always appreciate our readers and those that tell me they get our daily emails hold a special place in my heart!
Call your local Chevrolet dealers and see when they are hosting the C8 Dealer Tour at their location. You’ll want to check out this car in person!
Thanks again to the Kerbeck family, Dave Salvatore and all the staff at Kerbeck for hosting this great event that introduced the C8 Corvette on America’s East Coast.

Keith,
You absolutely made my day with the extensive photo spread and providing details that I’ve not seen previously. One example is the difference between the sideview mirrors, reminds me of some past Ferrari models.
Your numerous C8 posts have been absolutely laudatory!
Thank You, Sir!!!
JB
Interesting with the asymmetric mirror placement. I am curious if this is a pre-production prototype testing thing, or if production models will have them as well.
Also, any idea if the mirrors will electrically fold in?
Thanks Keith. Great C8 reporting as usual. Pleased & surprised by the huge turnout of the faithful & other exotic drivers at Kerbeck. Too bad they had to be kept at Bay by the fences.
Cool info regarding the unexpected location of the key for access due to a dead battery; and the different exterior mirror lengths due to the Vette’s haunches.
Still not completely in love with the interior layout, especially the “layers” on the dash top (due to the Bose speakers?) instead of a single, smooth contoured piece; and what’s the purpose, on a very purposeful sports car, for the decorative horizontal chrome stripe on the glove box!? Unnecessary…….
OK, enough whining. ?
I suspect the interior will look better in solid black or dark colors.
Nevertheless, Chevrolet hit a Home Run with the new C8. That story, with new models & performance, continues. Thanks again.
Jim Rij
Keith, even though I was at the Reveal with you, I saw more of the car in this photo spread and saw new things! Thanks
