For a brief period in the early 1980s, I sadly admit I was a traitor to my beloved Corvettes. After a love affair with Corvettes dating back to when I was probably 6 or 7 years old, for some unknown reason, I bought a new two-tone blue and silver 1980 Datsun 280ZX, the first year they offered T-tops. I drove that car for three years, then, fortunately, got a whiff of smelling salts and came to my senses, buying my first Corvette, a red 1980 model with 13,000 miles on the odometer.
For a brief two-week period in 1983, I was actually the owner of both cars, but never in my wildest dreams did I think of mashing my Z-car and a Corvette together the way someone in the Washington, DC area has done.
Yes, that’s right. Someone has actually turned a 1984 Nissan 300ZX into a C5 Corvette wannabe. From the rear, we admit that this Frankencar looks pretty convincing as a Fixed Roof Coupe C5.
But from the side, this car deserves to have a stake driven through its engine compartment, which by the way still has the Nissan’s original 3.0-liter V6 still ticking after 184,000 miles.
According to the ad on Facebook Marketplace for this Cor-ssan – or Nis-vette? – you can become the proud new owner for just $3,500. Would you pay that much for this Monster Mash of a car, or do you think it should just be driven off the nearest cliff?
