Corvette Delivery Dispatch with National Corvette Seller Mike Furman for July 9th

Each week, Criswell Chevrolet’s Mike Furman delivers new Corvette Stingrays, Grand Sports and Z06s to his customers who come from all parts of the country to work with the nation’s top individual Corvette seller.

Mike starts off this Delivery Dispatch with a note on the Corvette assembly plant getting ready to undergo the three months of upgrades and what that means for you. The number 004 Corvette Carbon 65 edition makes its way through Criswell Chevrolet as do a bunch of other 2017-2018 Corvettes. As always, a great collection of throwbacks, barn finds and vintage pics are featured.

~Now starts the gray area of Corvette sales because as of July 29th the Corvette Plant shuts down (three months) for a much needed makeover as that project hasn’t been done since 1997…now that may not seem like a long time in years (20) but think about it in the age of technology. The 1st year of the C5 was state of the art…for 1997…but now its light years removed from the C7 and beyond. I say beyond as if my educated guess of 2020/21 and the introduction of the 8th Generation will actually happen in that time frame… That is just my prediction so do not bet the farm on my predictions! Could it be sooner…Yes…Could it be later…Yes, but in my view that would be the right period of time to move forward. I’ve been watching new Corvettes come off the trucks since the 3rd Generation so I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly. Quality control back in the 80’s was more like a shop foreman giving his blessing from 20 feet. Now there are so many checks and balances that even when something gets missed I feel that GM does much more to make it right then ever before. The Existing Corvette Plant is 1 million sq feet and the new Building will add another 500,000 sq feet. That’s approximately 33 acres under roof…tons of moving parts, robots, employee’s and of course…America’s #1 Sports Car! The Corvette Plant Manager, Kai Spande is the perfect man to oversee this transition and I have full confidence that when the "new" plant opens up that all of us Corvette enthusiasts will be extremely elated with the results.

~Received a great email from Jim P. of Lindon, Utah. Jim just received his new 2017 GS Convt this week via Plycon Trucking as he bought it over the phone and picked it out of our rather large inventory. *"Mike: My corvette was delivered yesterday at 10:00 AM. All I can say is WOW. It is a beautiful car (including the rims, that I was worried about). Everyone in the family (kids and grand kids) all share the same opinion. I will be figuring out things on the car for a long time, but we are very thrilled with it. Thank you for your straight forward approach, the simplicity of the transaction, the price, etc., etc. I am very pleased with everything. Would love to meet you at Ron Fellows in Nevada, but the timing is bad (October 1-4). Many thanks, Jim Peters Lindon, Utah (Arctic White GS Convt with Twilight Blue package)."

~Jack and Aileen S. of Forest Heights, MD only live 35 miles from Criswell but I met them both at the Corvette Bash late April outside the Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY. We are both Lifetime members of the Corvette Museum! They spoke to me in Kentucky about giving me an opportunity to earn their business for their 7th Corvette! The very first was a 1962 and now they own a 2018 65 Carbon Edition Grand Sport Cpe with Vin #00004. Z30 Carbon Edition comes standard with a great deal of content and they also added auto trans, GS underhood liner and battery maintainer. Aileen got to drive the 2015 Corvette over that I had given them a sight unseen trade value on and also pulled away in the new 2018 Grand Sport…Jack is recovering well from last weeks surgery. Lets all wish him the Best of health!

~Adam M. Of Monaca, PA (just outside of Pittsburgh) called me Monday about a Gray Z06 which happened to get sold and delivered the day before. Adam had called me three years ago and I remembered he liked white and Competition seats…so I knew I had a Grand Sport and mentioned that to him. He made up his mind right away and today he and his Mother took the 3 1/2 hour ride and dropped off their Enterprise rental at Criswell and drove home in his new 2017 Grand Sport Cpe! Arctic White with Black microfiber insert Competition Seats with Red seat belts, CF badge Pkg, 7spd manual trans, Black wheels with Red stripe, CF outside mirrors, Navigation/PDR and 2LT Pkg. Adam’s new Corvette will share garage space with his Fathers C5.

~~Joel called me several months ago about ordering his dream Corvette in Black Rose Metallic…one problem, he lives in LA, California and his local dealer was giving him fits about allocations and color choice availability. I was able to fill in the holes for him and answer all his questions…the best part is I gave him the correct words and phrases when talking with his local Chevrolet dealer. He succeeded with his Corvette order locally and Joel was incredibly sincere in his heartfelt thanks for all that I did to assist him. No sale for me but another Corvette friend made!

~Chevrolet Zone Rep Chris Piszar stopped by yesterday (Yes on a Saturday) with a Goodie bag filled with items from the GM brass in Detroit.
