Configure Your New Corvette on the New 2012 Corvette Website

We’ve been hitting the official GM website for Corvette every couple of weeks to see when they were going to make the switch from the 2011 to the 2012 model year Corvette and this weekend we were rewarded with the new website. In addition to the pictures and model comparisons, GM has added a new “Customize Your Vehicle” configurator which allows potential Corvette buyers to see all the options available on the car.

The all-black vessel has ZR1 design cues throughout including the dash, steering wheel, and even a shifter. Outside there are ZR1 style front fender vents, tailights, and headlights. Oh, and don’t forget the 2 Mercury 1,350hp twin turbo racing motors that provide motiviation. Yep, that’s a total of 2,700hp or 4.2 real ZR1′s. A couple months back we had the opportunity to tour the immense car collection of Ken Lingenfelter, owner of Lingenfelter Performance Engineering. The diverse collection contains about 150 stunning muscle cars, exotics, classics, as well as several of LPE’s latest creations. No car collection is complete without a healthy dose of America’s sports car, and this one is no different. Roughly 40% of the grouping consists of Corvettes including some very rare ones. Check out some photos from our visit after the break.

Charlie’s Angels is the latest show from the Seventies that’s getting a reboot for the upcoming fall television schedule on ABC. The premise is similar to the original series which features three young beautiful women with various skills who solve crimes for their mysterious benefactor Charlie Townsend. We are bringing this up as we caught a commercial for this Thursday’s series premiere and the show features one of the cast members driving a Corvette ZR1 like she stole it!

At the Baltimore Grand Prix, Program Manager Doug Fehan provided the next installment of the Corvette Racing’s Tech Transfer segment which aired during the race. While most of the tech transfer segments follow the transfer of technology from Track to Street, this is one segment where we look at the transfer from Street to Track. ACO rules that govern the ALMS require the GT cars to use many of the production-based components. For Corvette Racing, this means starting with the aluminum frame and chassis.
