Taking delivery of a new Corvette Stingray through the National Corvette Museum’s R8C Delivery Program can be a very memorable experience. We’ve seen grown men act like kids in a candy shop as they are handed the keys to their new rides. And speaking of kids, the Museum just hosted one of the cutest new Corvette deliveries we’ve seen that is guaranteed to turn a kid into a Corvette fan for life.

Corvette Museum Offering Free Admission This Weekend for Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

It’s hard to picture a much more patriotic car than the Chevrolet Corvette.

And when it comes to supporting the “red, white, and blue,” our nation’s law enforcement personnel definitely rank among some of our most patriotic citizens.

Since Jan. 9, 2015 is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day across the U.S., the National Corvette Museum is showing its appreciation to these men and women by offering free admission to the museum to active and retired law enforcement and their immediate accompanying families Friday, Jan. 9 through Sunday, Jan. 11.

After a seven week process of preparing to fill the massive sinkhole under the National Corvette Museum’s Skydome, the ceremonial “first rock” was cast into the pit by the NCM’s Executive Director Wendell Strode. Inscribed on the rock was the words “Awesome God, Everyone Safe”, a testament to the fact that despite all the destruction caused by the sinkhole, there were no injuries to visitors or the employees who work there.

The latest excitement is the new Track X program, a winter driving event in an autocross-type environment, complete with coned gates and dedicated start to finish timing – on the museum’s new racetrack.

Corvette Museum's Motorsports Park Recognized as Outstanding Facility of the Year

Well that didn’t take long.

The National Corvette Museum’s Motorsports Park has only officially been open for about four months in 2014, but that was long enough for the racing industry to take notice of the new race track in Bowling Green, KY.

At the Performance Racing Industry’s trade show in Indianapolis, the NCM Motorsports Park was recognized with the “Outstanding Facility of the Year” award which was presented by the the National Speedway Directory and Track Guide.

NCM Motorsports Park to Break Ground on the Kimberlee Fast Pavilion and Garages

Attendees to the Corvette Museum’s Motorsports Park will soon see another portion of the track’s facility come together in 2015.

The track announced yesterday that they will be breaking ground in January for the construction of the Kimberlee A. Fast Pavilion and Garage Complex.

When Kevin Helmintoller donated his 2001 Mallet Hammer Corvette Z06 to the National Corvette Museum in late 2013, never in a million years would he have believed that the car would be lost a few months later in a catastrophic accident. But on the morning of February 12th this year, the ground gave way under the Corvette Museum’s SkyDome and swallowed eight Corvettes, the first being Helmintoller’s donated Z06.

General Motors to Restore the 1992 'One Millionth' Corvette Rescued from Sinkhole

When Humpty Dumpty took his big tumble a few years back, all the King’s horses and all the King’s men couldn’t put Humpty together again. Well, the King obviously didn’t choose the right people for the job—he should have contacted the talented craft workers of the Design Fabrication Operation at General Motors’ Global Design Center in Warren, Mich.

You see, in addition to their normal duties fabricating and assembling many of GM’s top design study vehicles and futuristic show cars, they have undertaken a task akin to putting Humpty back together—restoring to its previous glory, the 1 Millionth Corvette convertible that was heavily damaged when it was swallowed by the National Corvette Museum’s sinkhole back in February.
