[PICS] The 2015 Bloomington Gold Corvette Show


Last weekend Bloomington Gold completed its rookie orientation at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. A couple of soggy days couldn’t dampen spirits at the show’s 2nd new location in the last 3 years.

The combination of new driving events and the iconic location made this one of the best Bloomington Gold events in recent memory.

King of Kustomizers George Barris to Attend Corvette FunFest

George Barris – the King of Kustomizers – will be the Guest of Honor this year at Corvette FunFest hosted by our friends at Mid America Motorworks. Barris is known for building some of the most iconic cars including the original Batmobile, the Asteroid Corvette and Frankenstein’s Corvette for the original Death Race 2000.

As a special treat for attendees, George will be hosting seminars where you can learn about his storied career and all the great builds he has done over the years.

The countdown to Bloomington Gold 2015 currently stands at just over 2 weeks. One of the additions to the show in recent years is the Gold Autocross. Now, as the granddaddy of all Corvette shows is set to make its debut at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Bloomington Gold has announced that Lingenfelter Performance Engineering and RideTech will be sponsoring one of their newest driving events.

Corvette Club of America Hosting 42nd Annual Corvette Show at Sport Chevrolet

Want to get your Corvette out and meet up with other Corvette enthusiasts for a great show in Maryland? Our friends at Sport Corvette are hosting the Corvette Club of America’s 42nd Annual Spring Car Show at the Chevrolet dealership in Silver Spring, Maryland on Saturday, June 7th.

The show is open to all GM vehicles and cash and trophies will be awarded. Proceeds from the show to benefit Hospice Caring, Inc and Wells / Robertson House.

Visit Zip Corvette Parts this Saturday for 'Cruising in the Fast Lane'

Our friends at Zip Corvette Parts are hosting their 4th annual “Cruising in the Fast Lane” open house at their facilities in Mechanicsville, Virginia on Saturday. The showroom will be open from 10:00 to 3:00 pm and there is a 10% showroom discount available.

Last year over 400 Corvette friends made the visit to Zip’s showroom for a day of fun, food and of course, Corvettes!

There are no registration fees and a free lunch will be served from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. There are also hourly door prize drawings and much more.

The National Corvette Museum (NCM), along with the Grand Sport Registry and the ZR-1 Net Registry will be hosting the C4 Gathering on May 14-16. The 2015 Gathering will be celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the LT5-powered ZR-1 setting a number of new world speed records, including averaging 175 mph for 24 hours.

The Gathering is open to everyone interested in fourth generation Corvettes built between 1984 and 1996. Activities will include seminars, a special guided plant/museum tour, and a NCM Motorsports Park track day, in addition to information specific to the C4 Corvette.

New Driving Events Planned for the Bloomington Gold 2015 Corvette Show

June 25th – 27th is slowly creeping closer and we’re currently just under 3 months away from Bloomington Gold 2015. With the show’s move to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, it’s only natural that a full slate of driving events is planned for this year’s event. In addition to the traditional Gold Tour, Gold Autocross, and GM Test Drives attendees can now also take part in several other activities on the legendary Brickyard track as well.

Significant Corvettes of the Past was one of the many specialty displays at this year’s Detroit Autorama. The eclectic collection pulled together 9 unique Corvettes that had been modified in various ways from their stock forms by the likes of Motion, Greenwood, and Lingenfelter.
