We’re staring down the weekend before Thanksgiving and that can only mean one thing. Nope, it’s not time to get that bird just yet. It’s time for the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals (MCACN) in Chicago! If this fantastic show isn’t on your calendar for this weekend, then you need to change your plans. Right now.

The MCACN show is our favorite all-make car show of the year. The 2023 version takes place this weekend, November 18th and 19th at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Il. Each year, Bob Ashton and the MCACN crew bring together nearly 550 of the best Corvettes and Muscle Cars on the planet. They do this via rotating themes and invitational displays to keep the show fresh. Priority is always given to cars never shown before at MCACN. This year’s participants represent 41 states plus 3 provinces of Canada.

The tradtional red carpet display will feature Ford and Mercury’s best right as you enter the show. Additional invitational displays will feature more Ford and Mercury big block cars, the class of 1968 and 1973 invitationals, big body Buicks, and a 40th Anniversary salute to the cars of Saleen, and more. You’ll see 1958-1969 Impalas, the Evolution of the Dodge Charger, and a similar display of Ford GT’s and GT40’s. MCACN is also the only place you’ll see special displays for Malaise Era cars, AMC’s, and even crusty old Barn Finds in their “as-found” condition. The Rapid Transit System Cuda will draw a crowd all weekend. Saturday morning you’ll get to see 19 different cars revealed for the first time since their restorations were completed.

Of course, Corvettes are a significant part of the show, and you’ll find the best of the best cars competing for the Concourse Gold and Triple Diamond awards. These fine machines have already won NCRS Top Flight and Bloomington Gold awards confirming their spot at the top of the Corvette food chain. We’re also looking forward to selecting our next CorvetteBlogger Pick Award winner. The New Road for your author’s 1978 Silver Anniversary Corvette runs through Chicago so be sure to swing by and say hello this weekend if you see me. If that’s not enough, the annual Corvette Legends display will salute Corvette race cars this year. Here you’ll see cars that have lapped Lemans, Sebring, and legendary tracks around the world.

MCACN is more than just cars. You’ll see and hear from celebrities like designer Peter Brock, TV’s Chris Jacobs and Wayne Carini, hot rodder Chuck Miller just to name a few. Our friend Steve Garrett from the CORVETTE TODAY podcast will be onsite talking with owners and pontificating about his popular show.

We can’t forget the kid’s judging, muscle bikes, vendors, cars for sale, and seminars. They’ll even have live music at various times throughout the weekend as well. There’s just so much to do over the 2 days, we can’t mention it all here. Add it all up and you’ll quickly see why this show is often referred to as the “Pebble Beach of muscle cars”. Check out the MCACN website for more details on the show.
