The C7 Corvette is the much anticipated next generation sports car from Chevrolet. The C7 Corvette is powered by the all new small block LT1 V8 estimated to produce 450 hp and 29 mpg. It will be unveiled on 1.13.13. The 2014 Corvette is currently expected to arrive in dealer showrooms sometime in the summer/fall of 2014.

Corvette’s Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter came to the 2012 Petit Le Mans ALMS race at Road Atlanta last week to unveil the 2014 C7 Corvette emblem and pegged 1.13.13 as the date of the public reveal. CorvetteBlogger talked to Tadge later in the day about his 19+ years as part of the Corvette Program, the legacy of the C6 and the coming of the C7.
As you already know, more pieces of the 2014 C7 Corvette puzzle came together Wednesday morning as GM officially unveiled the highly anticipated engine that will power the next-generation of America’s sports car. We’ve already seen the new C7 emblem and we can now officially report that a 6.2L direct injection V8 will motivate the upcoming 2014 Corvette. The new Corvette’s motor will bear the “LT1″ option code for the third time in its 60-year history.

The new Corvette LT1 engine, the first of the Gen 5 family of Small Block engines, combines several advanced technologies, including direct injection, Active Fuel Management and continuously variable valve timing to support an advanced combustion system. As part of its rollout today, GM put together this cool animation of the C7 Corvette’s new LT1 Gen 5 small block V8 being virtually assembled.
This morning, Chevrolet unveiled the all-new Gen V small block V8 engine that will power the 2014 C7 Corvette. The new V8 will be designated the LT1 – the third time Chevrolet has used this RPO for a Corvette engine. Estimated power will be 450 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque and with a variety of fuel saving technologies, the new Corvette is estimated to get 26+ MPG.

On Saturday morning, October 20th, Corvette’s Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter and Corvette’s Exterior Designer Kirk Bennion spoke at the Corvette Corral at Petit Le Mans. Tadge emphasized that the C7 is a totally new Corvette while Kirk Bennion spoke about the design and characteristics of the C7 Corvette logo that was unveiled earlier in the week.
The National Corvette Museum has released the details and schedule for Corvette enthusiasts who want to be part of the unveiling of the next generation Corvette in Detroit this January. Registration for the event will be live on Monday, October 22nd starting at 9 AM EDT. The tour includes attendance at the live unveiling on 1.13.13 as well as the Cabo Hall official press conference at the North American International Auto Show on January 14th and a trip to the GM Heritage Center.

On Thursday afternoon, winners and leaders of their respective ALMS classes talked to the press at Petit Le Mans held at Road Atlanta. Corvette Racing’s Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner talked about winning the ALMS Drivers Championship and Gary Pratt was there to speak about winning the GT Team Championship.
When it was time to talk about Chevrolet winning the ALMS GT Manufacturer’s title, Corvette’s Chief Engineer used the platform to unveil the new 2014 C7 Crossed Flags emblem and the public debut date of 1.13.13.
During today’s press conference at Road America, Corvette’s Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter accepted the 2012 ALMS GT Manufacturers Championship award for Chevrolet and then used the high profile event to kickoff the countdown for the highly anticipated world debut of the next generation 2014 C7 Corvette. That countdown will culminate on the evening of Sunday, January 13, 2013 when the new Corvette is official revealed in Detroit.
Like every new Corvette generation that went before, Chevrolet has redesigned the iconic crossed flags logo specifically for the 2014 Corvette, and its release today provides Corvette fans with the first official glimpse of the new American sports car.
