Mobil 1 Rebrands ESP Formula 0W-40 as Mobil 1 Supercar

During the 12 Hours of Sebring, members of Mobil 1 visited the Corvette Corral where they handed out bottles of their ESP 0W-40 motor oil. During their tech talk, Mobil 1 explained that they are changing the packaging of their ESP Formula 0W-40 so that name reflects the true spirit of its performance pedigree. So now when you are looking for your favorite Mobil 1 motor oil, reach for the bottle that’s called Mobil 1 Supercar.

Mobil 1 has been the factory fill motor oil for the Corvette over the last 25+ years with more than 700,000 Corvettes delivered to new owners over that time span. Starting with the C4 and continuing through C8, Mobil 1 continues to evolve with the forthcoming C8 Corvette Z06 that will soon receive the first Mobil 1 Supercar 5W-50 synthetic motor oil that will protect the high-revving 670-hp LT6.

Mobil 1 Supercar offers three levels of protection to help guarantee Corvette power and precision:

1. Cold Start Protection – up to 70% of engine wear may occur during the first three seconds of startup. Mobil 1 Supercar is the only advanced synthetic motor oil specifically developed to help protect the heart of your Corvette in extreme temperatures.
   
2. Wear Protection – To held reduce oil consumption and provide maximum performance, Corvette engines include technologies like a patented PCV system, a variable-displacement oil pump, and Mobil 1 Supercar, which is specifically designed to help reduce oil aeration during aggressive driving.
   
3. Track to Street on 1 Oil – Chevrolet and Mobil 1 recognized that oil changes take away from track time and add costs, so Mobil 1 Supercar 0W-40 is the first motor oil designed specifically for Corvette to deliver maximum performance on the street, on the track and back, with one motor oil.

Only the most powerful GM engines are being factory filled with Mobil 1 Supercar. This includes the current Corvette Stingray and Camaro ZL1, as well as any future engines that will require a dexos-approved motor oil. Mobil 1 Supercar family of products are also the first to receive the coveted dexosR approval.

Mobil 1 Supercar 0W-40 may share the same name as Mobil 1 0W-40 but these two blends aren’t the same and are not interchangeable. Mobil 1 says that while the viscosity is identical, the formulation of Mobil 1 Supercar 0W-40 is the result of 24 months of grueling tests and precise engineering, and it’s specifically designed to guarantee it meets the strict dexos-spec required for all C7 and C8 Corvettes.

For classic Corvettes, Mobil 1 still recommends its 5W-30.
