[VIDEO] 199 MPH in a 2015 Corvette Z06

Sorry, Folks. Moose should have told you at the gate. Mr. “Bad Z06″ took down the video. He was brave enough to drive 199 mph on a public road with traffic, but not brave enough to face the music from the internet. We’ve replaced the embedded video with the screen shot.

Watch this guy with more money than brains take his 2015 Corvette Z06 with the 8-Speed Auto onto a public highway and hit 199 mph.

[PICS] Corvette Vanity Plates from the 12 Hours of Sebring Corvette Corral

One of the great things you can do as a Corvette owner is to support the factory Corvette C7.Rs by going to one of the TUDOR United Sports Car races held around the Country. And Chevrolet makes it real easy to go by sponsoring a Corvette Corral at select races where owners can safely park their cars, listen to seminars from Doug Fehan, Harlan Charles and Ron Fellows as well as enjoy the camaraderie that we share with other Corvette owners.

Arriving this weekend at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, we were amazed to see a record number of attendees who parked their cars in the Corvette Corral. From C1s to C7 Z06s, there was a little something for everyone parked under the bright Florida sun.

[VIDEO] Hennessey Puts the 2015 Corvette Z06 with a 7-Speed Manual on the Dyno

Hennessey Performance Engineering recently decided to find out how much the 2015 Z06 convertible’s engine loses between crank horsepower and rear wheel horsepower.

According to their dyno figures, the Z06, with the standard 7-speed transmission, produced 570 RWHP, down 12.4 percent from the crank figure of 650 HP. No word on the decline in torque, but based on other tests, we’d figure that number is virtually identical to the RWHP, in other words, 570 ft-lbs.

Chevrolet Corvette Powertrain: Performance Starting on the Plant Floor

Editor’s Note: We are honored to share an article submitted to CorvetteBlogger.com from Eric Nordling, Product Engineer at the GM Tonawanda Engine Plant and Bob Widmer, Production Launch Operations Manager, GM’s Toledo Transmission plant. Eric and Bob shares with us some of the high-tech machinery that helps to build the Corvette Stingray’s LT1 V8 engine in Tonawanda, NY and the eight-speed automatic transmission manufactured in Toledo, OH.

Since the original Small Block V8 engine was introduced in 1955, the Chevrolet Corvette has been famous for uncompromising power under its hood. But while Corvette drivers can see and appreciate the technology and innovation under their hoods, what very few people get to see is the advanced infrastructure and devotion to quality at all costs that goes into building the Corvette’s powertrain. Through seven generations of America’s most iconic sports car, General Motors engineers and workers have continually refined the state of the art in the manufacturing and assembly plants that build and test the Corvette’s engine and transmission, constantly finding new ways to make the Corvette more powerful, reliable and efficient.
