BadBoyVettes tells us the Chevrolet Corvette will once again be competing in Japan’s SuperGT Series after a three year absence. Tomei Sports will be campaigning the Callaway Corvette Z06R for the RUNUP Sports blog in the GT300 class which BBV says is a lot like GT3. The series gets started in April 2011 and goes nine rounds through November 2011.
This Corvette Z06 crashed into a light pole in Culver City, California the other night. The driver ran from the scene and when police arrived, the Vette was engulfed in flames. Stolen or not, I’m thinking the cops will be able to sort this out quickly. In the meantime, grab your marshmallows and watch this C6 burn.

This 2010 Cyber Gray Corvette ZR1 put its front end into some unknown immovable object, shearing the drivers rear chrome wheel off the axle and triggering the airbag. Hope the driver was okay. Concrete walls and blind corners await Blackdog Racing and Corvette driver Tony Gaples as they compete in SCCA Pro Racing’s “Speed World Challenge” series at the Denver Grand Prix. The crew dials in the Corvette for this street course, with Tony determined to keep it in one piece.
We got the February 2011 sales figures from General Motors and its been a rare moment when we can say Corvette sales are up over the previous month as well as up in the year to date figure. Last month, 955 Corvettes were delivered to new homes, a 53% increase from the mere 624 Corvettes sold in the same month in 2010. For the calendar year, 1,676 Corvettes have been delivered which is a 13.4% increase over the first two months of 2010.

During last week’s Detroit Autorama, Cobo Hall was wall-to-wall hot rods and many of those hot rods were Corvettes. The classic hod rod Vettes ranged from originals and restomods to full blown customs like the 1962 Corvette named “Elegance” that won a spot in the Ridler Great 8. Not to be outdone, later model Corvettes included the SEMA Z06x track Corvette and a sinister Black Lingenfelter C6 Convertible were also on full display. Even Jake was in the house! Canada. The great white north. The country that brought us back bacon, Molson beer and Ron Fellows is also home to Elite Tuners of Canada (ETC) and their Gold Rush colored C6 Corvette. The tuning company made their first appearance at the 2011 Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto last week with a display of two cars in front of the Chevrolet area. Dubbed the “Top Tuner 5″ project, the Corvette and its Chevy Cruze counterpart “Top Tuner 5.5″ turned a lot of heads with the race-inspired tuning projects.
Corvette Conti says that 2011 will be the last year for Jetstream Blue Metallic (RPO 85U). GM will phase the color out early and has already issued a final order date for those that still wish to build a 2011 Corvette in Jetstream Blue. The last Dealer Order submission process to submit orders with Jetstream Blue will occur during the cycle that starts Thursday, March 3, 2011, and ends Tuesday, March 8, 2011.
Last October, GM announced that it would be introducing a new convertible top color for Corvettes. Well that day is here as we have pictures of the first 2011 Corvette Grand Sport convertible made with the new Blue soft top. This 2011 SuperSonic Blue Corvette not only features the first blue convertible top, but open the doors and you see the first Corvette to have the blue accent stitching.
