[VIDEO] National Corvette Seller Mike Furman Delivers His 4,000th Corvette

Once upon a time ago, a 17-year with a nose for cars joined the sales staff at Malcolm Konner Chevrolet in New Jersey. It was the summer of 1978 that Mike Furman sold his first Corvette, a 1978 Silver Corvette to an eighty-year-old gentleman whom he still remembers with amazing details. With that first sale, his career as a Corvette seller was cemented.

At the time Furman joined Malcolm Konner Chevrolet, the New Jersey dealership was the world’s largest Corvette dealer. Malcolm’s son Gary Konner played a pivotal role as a mentor for the young salesman who quickly became a student of the car sales business. Many of the great names from Corvette visited Malcolm Konner during those impressionable years including the likes of Zora Arkus-Duntov and his wife Elfie, and Larry Shinoda who attended Konner’s annual summer Corvette show.

Furman moved to Maryland in 1989 and after 23 years in management for various dealerships, he took a one-year contract in 2008 to help wind down operations at a Chevrolet dealer in Chevy Chase, MD. After that dealership closed and knowing some of the people at nearby Criswell Chevrolet, he once again returned to the sales floor in August of 2009. Mike sold 31 Corvettes that first month back and now he currently averages around 400 Corvettes sold per year.

Mike not only sells Corvettes but he became an enthusiast of the model as well. He’s a lifetime member of the National Corvette Museum and an NCM Ambassador with his club. To date, he’s owned 18 Corvettes including his most recent, a fully documented and numbers-matching 1967 Corvette Coupe in Marina Blue with White interior. What you might not know is that he also a fan of the Oldsmobile 442s. In addition to those 18 Corvettes, he’s also owned 44 muscle cars over the years and 35 of those were the 442s.

Mike joined the forums in 2002 and soon gained a following for his knowledge of the sales process as well as dispensing advice on Corvettes in general.

In 2017 he was recognized as one of Chevrolet’s “Elite Leaders” and received a personal visit from Chevrolet executives who presented the award. In 2016 he was honored as Chevrolet’s number 1 sales rep in the East Coast Region for delivering 400 Corvettes and 200 other vehicles during the year. No. 4,000 is a 2018 Corvette Grand Sport Convertible.

On Friday, April 13th, the Corvette sales specialist delivered the 4,000th Corvette in his nearly forty years of automotive sales. It’s a number that that will be difficult to duplicate due to the nature of the business these days. Mike says the amount was not a goal, but a milestone on his rewarding journey. He’s already estimating that his 5,000th sale will come in mid-2022, which is great news for both new Corvette buyers and Chevrolet.

Number 4,000, a 2018 Grand Sport Convertible in Sebring Orange, now belongs to Mike Hamilton, the Battalion Chief for the Montgomery County Fire Department. This is the third Corvette he’s purchased from Mike and in the video he talks about why he buys his Corvettes from Mike Furman:

We wish to congratulate Mike Furman on his latest milestone and we know that he has many more ahead. We are happy to have him as a sponsor of our website, but more importantly, we are proud to count him as a friend. You can contact Mike directly at CorvetteFurman.com.
