[ACCIDENT] Tree Crashes Down on a 2005 Corvette in Ohio

It happened too late for Santa to put a new Corvette on his sleigh for a Springfield, Ohio man.

Tom Tuttle looked out the window at his home on Christmas Eve after hearing a loud cracking and a crashing sound, only to discover a large oak tree branch had just centered his 2005 Corvette coupe, which he had driven just 20,000 miles since buying it new.

While the impact broke the targa roof and scattered debris over the top of the Corvette, it could have been much worse. The windshield wasn’t broken, and on an even more fortunate note, Tuttle himself wasn’t sitting in the driver’s seat, or it might have been a very sad Christmas indeed for his family.

“I darn near cried,” he told a reporter. “It’s too late to put on my Christmas list.”

Tom says he’s owned several Corvettes over the years but this one was his favorite. Maybe it’ll give him a good excuse to trade for a C7.

He plans to wait until after the holidays to talk to his insurance company but is just grateful no one was hurt by the falling branch. Ironically, the wind was calm at the time of the crash.

“The tree was probably just ready to go,” he said philosophically.

  1. Unfortunate. When I was in high school I had ad tree fall on my 1984 Camaro Z28 during an ice storm. The only reason it was outside and not in the garage was because the damn garage door wouldn’t open. It’s been 15 years since it happened but it still bother me.
