There are a lot of custom Corvettes out there. When it comes to these cars, we owners love to personalize them in infinite ways. Some of these modifications turn out really well and others don’t quite have the same appeal. This 1988 coupe currently for sale Ohio fits into the latter category.
This beauty has already been discounted by $1,000 down to $9,995. For that sum you get a car that began life as a basic black 1988 Corvette coupe with a red interior. Since new it’s travelled 111,000 miles which equates out to about 4,600 miles per year.
And then there are all those “custom” touches. We’ll start under the stock hood where there’s a healthy dose of chrome on the intake manifold, valve covers, and alternator. Other additions include exhaust headers, upgraded (yellow) spark plug wires, and some other random red components.
The interior appears to be relatively unharmed except for some later-model C4 sport seats and the removal of the passenger side dash panel.
Outside, the car features a ground effects package we’ve not seen before. When viewed from the front, the front fascia resembles an early 90’s Geo Storm or Chevy Camaro. The side rocker and door treatments kind of reminds us of a Miami Vice-era Ferrari Testa Rossa, but less aggressive. The rear hatch glass has been replaced with a piece that gives the car a speedster-ish look…on a coupe. A nice set of C5 Z06 wheels reside at all 4 corners of the car.
You didn’t think we’d forget about that ominous rear wing did you? Whenever we see one of these giant things, we can’t help but picture a giant coat hook on to which you can store your car when you’re not driving it. Picture your mom saying “Honey, if you’re done playing with your Corvette, please go hang it up so it’s out of the way”.
This diversity of customization is one of the greatest aspects of the Corvette hobby. Hopefully this modded C4 will find a new loving home in the near future.
