The COVID shutdowns have forced a lot of rescheduling for racing across the country including one of our favorites, the Indianapolis 500. I was thinking for sure that would be the venue where we would see our first C8 Corvette in pace car livery, but after the “greatest spectacle in racing” moved their dates to August 23rd, we were unsure when a Corvette Pace Car might be debuted.

Other than the test drivers employed by General Motors, there probably aren’t too many people who have driven the new mid-engine Corvette more than YouTuber Zac LP.

In his latest post, Zac gives the first 10,000 mile review of the 2020 Corvette, or actually the first 12,000 mile review since he’s running a little behind.

“It has been,” he stresses, “the best 12,000 miles in a vehicle in my life!”

When the C8 Corvette was introduced last summer, it was like a nuclear bomb dropped on the fussy supercar space. A technological tour de force, the 2020 mid-engine C8 is the future of Corvette whether we like it or not.

While Corvette fans are mostly optimistic, nothing can throw cold water on enthusiasm for your team’s chances then having the car’s performance throttled back just as the C8.Rs were able to string together back to back wins. But so far IMSA is letting the GTLM cars race as the updated Balance of Performance tables for this weekend’s contest at Road America shows only minor adjustments for the class.

Emelia Hartford, a popular youtuber with a ton of followers, had been building out her 2020 Corvette with the most major mod being the twin-turbo set-up added to the car over the course of the last month. I’ve been trying to nail down exactly how much power the car was making and in one of her recent videos where it was being dyno tested, the car was making 609 ft-lb of torque and 539 hp at 2700 rpm.
