Dana Mecum’s 34th annual Spring Classic Auction in Indianapolis wrapped up a couple weeks ago with record results. Total sales for the event were $107.8 million. That monster number was the product of an 83% sell-through rate in which 1,715 out of 2,057 available cars went to new homes. This was Mecum’s 2nd $100 million+ auction of the year following January’s Kissimmee auction.

Earlier today we discovered the 2022 Corvette is now listed on Chevrolet.com’s upcoming vehicles page and the microsite now features some new photoshops of the three new colors! While we would prefer to see the three new colors on real cars, these new illustrations do give us a decent representation of how Hypersonic Gray, Amplify Orange, and Caffeine might appear.
The new 2022 Corvette Stingray IMSA GTLM Championship Editions will be on display this weekend in Detroit for IMSA’s Chevrolet Sports Car Classic, but if you can’t make it to Belle Isle to see them in the flesh, Chevy is giving you a virtual opportunity to check out the new C8.R Special Editions.

From the Corvette Forum comes these two photos of a camouflaged C8 Corvette prototype spotted on Thursday in Defiance, Ohio at an Arby’s restaurant. CF member “spyderx” shared the photos that were sent to him by a friend.
It seems unlikely, but if anyone who reads this Corvette site were seriously considering adding Ford’s new nostalgia-heavy Mach-1 Mustang to their collection, Classic Auto Mall of southeast Pennsylvania would like to direct your attention towards something that makes the king of 5.0 ‘Stangs look only about 20% as cool; the Mach 5, but you might know it better as the Speed Racer car.

The C8 Corvette Horsepower Wars are getting more interesting by the day.
We’ve been following YouTuber Emelia Hartford’s journey with her C8 Corvette nicknamed Phoenix and the girl has been on fire at the drag strip over the last few months. After recently losing her title for having the most powerful C8 Corvette to the gents at FuelTech, she still has the fastest C8 Corvette in the world and this week she shared a new video as she beat her own record twice during a track date a Famoso dragstrip outside of Bakersfield, CA.
Yesterday, Chevrolet took the wraps off its plans for the 2022 Corvette with the new model year bringing in a couple of cool special editions, engine tweaks and a $1,200 price increase. What wasn’t shared were any details on the C8 Corvette Z06. After the Bash at the end of April, I’ll admit to being somewhat hopeful that details would still come, but it now appears that the C8 Corvette Z06 will make its debut as a 2023 model year.
It’s complicated.
That might be the best way to describe General Motors’ involvement with Prototypes and GT3 racing starting in 2023.
We’ve previously featured a collection of low mileage Corvette Pace Cars from the collection of Don Mackey and while those three Pace Cars have been sold, today he asked if we could help get the word out on his date coded tires and wheels for sale. We know from our collector friends that finding a correct set of four date-coded tires is one of the hardest OEM parts to locate, and the older the car, the harder they are to find.
