We’ve all seen those perfect /1978 Corvette Indy Pace Cars that were hidden away as soon as they were purchased, and 45 years later have just 7 miles on the odometer.

While the new Corvette Convertible models have proved to be widely popular beyond anyone’s expectations, there is one area of the car that Chevy may have misjudged and that was not making the top of the engine viewable. Chevrolet instead offers a black heat shield that completely covers the top of the engine bay and the LT2 V8. The cover is only viewable for the 16 seconds that it takes to raise or lower the top, so what’s the point of having a viewable engine cover, right?

Having the ability to see the engine through the engine hatch is one of the main reasons why buyers opt for the Coupes as it’s one more element from other exotics and supercars that Chevy has incorporated. Many buyers of the convertible have wished for the same, and could it be that Chevy is about to make this happen?

One of the new LPO dealer-installed options for the 2023 Corvette Z06 and the 2024 E-Ray is the 5V5 Accessory Spoiler in beautiful visible carbon fiber. This was considered a late addition when Z06 ordering first started last summer, but it’s now available to order and we got our first real-world photos thanks to our friends at the MECF and the NCM.
