On Thursday, Chevrolet dealers got another round of allocations for a 2nd ordering cycle this month. Again, it appears that all six models were available for this consensus.
Next week, those allocations will be matched to customer orders and submitted to Chevrolet for acceptance. We’ll also have the latest constraints next week as well.
Speaking of constraints, we have another instance that shows just how deep this constraint problem is for dealers.
A couple of order cycles ago, customers couldn’t get the regular Z51 spoiler for the Stingray because of constraints. Dealers then offer alternatives so their customer doesn’t lose the open allocation, and one alternative was to add the Stingray’s four-post Carbon Flash Metallic High Wing that comes at an additional $1,550 added to the order.
Fast forward six to eight weeks and now that completed Corvette Stingray arrives at the dealership, but the accessory high wing doesn’t, even though it was available when the order was originally placed, paid for by the customer, and it shows on the window sticker. In that time period from when the order was placed to when the Stingray shows up at the dealer, Chevrolet has put the Carbon Flash High Wing on constraint and even marked it in the Corvette Order Guide as “Not available at this time.” That shouldn’t affect the orders placed months ago, but it does. Now the car is sitting at the dealership for multiple weeks waiting for a wing that Chevy can’t seem to get.
What does the dealer do? Those that care about their customers take it to the next level. They start searching the GM parts warehouses to find one available nationwide and have to purchase it themselves (at a cost over MSRP) to they can finish the PDI for the customer and deliver the Corvette as ordered.
So, to recap, a dealer can’t get the standard Z51 wing because of constraints and orders the alternative high wing instead only to be screwed again by constraints. Plus, these rear facias come predrilled based on the spoiler ordered, so if the four-post high wing was ordered, the rear fascia comes predrilled for it. Dealers can’t simply swap the now-available standard Z51 wing for the constrained high wing in its place without having to change the rear fascia.
It’s a real shame what is happening to what is otherwise a very well designed and engineered sports car. But somehow, Chevrolet continues to find a way to mess it all up when it comes to customer orders.

Rick , i have both , the Hi Wing off my 2020 and the Z51 spoiler off the 2023…. I’ll loan them to you and you can replace them when they are available…. i prefer the old Whale Tail Spoilers….b
But GM is riding high fiscally so customers be dammed. I guess selling/billing what you won’t ship is a new profit center.
Country is in the third generation of dumb. Recent college grads are so entitled and expect 6 digit starting incomes.
The Corvette is a great product designed by some great automotive engineers. Unfortunately, the Corvette leadership/production team doesn’t have the critical thinking, planning and production skills to build the Corvette.
For eight models years people have been putting up with this. Time for some heads to roll for those responsible for getting and keeping adequate supplies of parts on hand. And finding suppliers that can produce them.
Its the Constraint Generation.
When will they get their sh!t together! I want to order one but if I can’t get what I want….
