[VIDEO] C8 Corvette Stingray Takes on the Ford Mustang for Quarter Mile Glory

The Drag Racing and Car Stuff YouTube channel came up with another spicy encounter during a trip down to Bradenton Motorsports Park south of Tampa Bay and it’s exactly what you see in the title: A Corvette versus Mustang battle that decided in 10 seconds.

Corvettes versus Mustangs is a thing I guess, though the two cars are radically different from one another. But they are similar in the fact that both are powered by V8s, they are both beloved models from American auto manufactures, and both cars are also steeped in American pop culture history.

Regardless of which side you come down on, we’re hoping you still like the fact that these two were willing to crawl into the ring to battle each other. As both vehicles have been modded, expectations are out the window as this Chevy vs Ford throwdown just got a bit more interesting.

Of course, we love to say that the C8 Corvette is America’s Favorite Sports Car and this mid-engine Stingray is outfitted for the track with a low-profile deck spoiler and it’s wearing drag radials. The front engine Mustang also gives a hearty burnout to warm the tires, and it also looks to be wearing drag radials, but I can’t tell for sure with the black wheels that disappear into the blackness of the exterior paint around them.

Well, this quick race between automotive icons was fun. Both drivers threw down with some impressive reaction times (1.5 to 1.7), but one car took an early lead, and no amount of wishing could turn the tide.

The winner crossed the finish line at a solid 10.8 seconds, while the loser finished with an 11.09 and a slightly higher trap speed. We’re not telling you who ran what time because this video is only forty seconds long. Go watch it for yourself here:
