This week’s distribution update for the 2027 Corvette Order Guide addresses a couple of items for the upcoming model year, and one of those specifically targets those customers who are planning on doing the C8 Engine Build Program for their Corvette Z06 Convertible.
The Customer Engine Build Program (PBC) costs $9,995 and is available to buyers of the Corvette Z06, ZR1, and ZR1X. It allows the buyer the opportunity to assemble their own LT6 or LT7 V8 engines under the watchful eyes of a GM Master Engine Builder at the Performance Build Center inside the Corvette Assembly Plant. That engine will then be placed in the customer’s Corvette as its being assembled on the assembly line.
For those building their own Z06 engines, GM wants to make sure you have the ability to showcase your work. With a Coupe, that’s easy. Just look through the rear engine hatch glass to see your name on the engine builder’s plaque. But with a hard top convertible model, it’s a little harder.
Engine Appearance Package for Stingray HTC
GM is hoping to change that by requiring those who are building their engines for a Z06 Convertible to also purchase the ZZ3 Convertible Engine Appearance Package with their Z06 HTC orders. The Appearance Package includes a polycarbonate window under the Convertible’s tonneau cover that allows the engine to be seen through the heat shielding. The package also includes the SL9 Engine Specification Plaque.
GM already includes the Engine Appearance Package as a standard option of the ZR1 and ZR1X, which is probably why we are getting this specific update for the Z06 model. There is now a “Required” footnote on the Z06 Order Guide for customers ordering the PBC Engine Appearance Package for 1LZ, 2LZ, and 3LZ Convertibles. The ZZ3 option adds an additional $1,195 to orders.
As for the other option that was updated today in the Corvette Order Guide, the 2027 Grand Sport’s Mechanical Section now specifies that the carbon ceramic J57 brakes are “Included” with the Grand Sport’s FEY Z52 Track Performance Package, while also listed as “Available” with the FEB Z52 Sport Performance Package.
