[ACCIDENT] POV Video of a C8 Crashing into a California Tour Bus Head On is Released

A routine sightseeing trip in California turned into a moment of sheer chaos last weekend, and a newly released video shows just how quickly it happened.

The footage, recorded from inside a tour bus carrying 48 passengers, begins calmly enough. Cars — even a golf cart — pass by as the bus winds along 17 Mile Drive in Monterey County. Nothing in the first few seconds hints at the violence waiting around the bend.

Then the bus rounds a curve.

From the opposite direction, a Torch Red C8 Corvette hardtop convertible suddenly appears, barreling into view, crossing the centerline at high speed. In an instant, the sports car slams head on into the front driver’s side of the bus. Passengers scream as debris from the Corvette explodes into the air and scatters across the roadway.

The one minute video, released earlier this week, captures the entire impact.

According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to the crash Saturday near Majella Road. Their preliminary investigation found that the Corvette, traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed, crossed the double yellow lines before striking the westbound tour bus.

The Corvette driver suffered major injuries and was transported to a local hospital. CHP says the driver is suspected of driving under the influence and was placed under arrest.

Only one passenger on the bus reported minor injuries — a fortunate outcome considering the severity of the collision.
