Tomorrow is officially Grand Sport Day and Corvette enthusiasts appear to be very excited about latest C8 Corvette to hit the streets. This morning, the Corvette’s social media team posted a new teaser on Instagram and from a YouTuber, we now have confirmation on the Grand Sport’s reveal location.

Over on Instagram, Corvette posted the following teaser highlighting the return of the hashmarks!

The hashmarks are back. Full reveal 03.26.26 #Corvette

Of course, announcing the Hash Marks are back is the most no-brainer tease that Chevy could offer as it’s one of the highly distinguishable features of the model. Especially when buyers select the RPO Z15 option which adds the heritage hash marks and the distinctive wide center stripe across the top of the car.

As an aside, do you know why there are hash marks on the Grand Sports? It was a racing identifier for noting which car is entering the pits. Back in the sixties, racing teams communicated with their drivers by flashing a status board as they flew by at over 100 mph. If there were three identically looking race cars, teams needed an easily identifiable way to know which car was coming into the pits. One car would have zero hash marks, the second car had one hash mark, and the third car had two hash marks. When Chevrolet brought back the Grand Sport model in 1996, they adopted the twin hash marks as part of the official livery, and it has been on every successive Grand Sport model ever since.

Now, on to this week’s reveal. Scrolling through Instagram last night, we came across a post from Jakub of The Straight Pipes Youtube channel who posted these photos of him at a catered event held at Spring Mountain. Jakob did a similar post prior to the ZR1X ride and drive at Sonoma Raceway last month, so we are certain that’s the location.

While not knowing the full schedule, it’s my belief these YouTubers are out at the Ron Fellows Performance Driving School this week driving the new Grand Sports, and we should get to see those videos sometime on Thursday. Chevrolet has only revealed the date, but no time has yet been uncovered. Will they be doing some sort of livestreamed event or will they simply rely on these YouTubers to break the news for them? Time will tell!

  1. We were at Ron Fellows two weeks ago and the rumor we heard was that there was at least one Grand Sport on property doing testing or laps. The lead instructor would not comment either way on the rumor but we heard it through and overheard conversation with other instructors. Interesting timing!
