When Chevrolet first showed off the new 1,250-hp 2026 Corvette ZR1X to a select group of auto journalists last June, it was strictly a “look but do not drive event.” But now we have learned that Chevy did a Ride and Drive with the Nürburgring’s fastest American sports car last week in California and those reviews are coming out this Friday.
Not only was the ZR1X the fastest American sports car to run the ‘ring, it’s also the fastest production car in the United States. Chevrolet’s official testing showed the car running on a prepped surface with a quarter mile time 8.675 seconds at 159 MPH and it’s also capable of a 0-60 MPH sprint in 1.68 seconds!
Production of the ZR1X started back in December 2025 and now some of those first retail units are being delivered to their new owners. So seeing the official reviews from the various automotive YouTubers should be quite fun knowing that these cars are finally being delivered.
We caught the news thanks to Jakub from The Straight Pipes YouTube Channel who posted some pics on his @itsreallyjakub Instagram page. The round-up was held out at Sonoma Raceway which north of the San Francisco Bay. He said the following:
A week ago I drove the @corvette ZR1X with 1250hp. Chevy brought the actual cars that broke all the records. I broke a GoPro filter. I turned tires into clouds and strings. It rained, a lot. Somehow still managed to smile. Full review coming in 1 week

Dude about that turning tires into strings. What the hell?
Interested when the compros against worlds fastest go head to head with the ‘X’.
The best powertrains are turbocharged performance hybrids. Nice price in the $200K range.
