For Corvette fans who remember 1978, the spotlight that year shined almost entirely on the Indy Pace Car editions—6,500 black and silver specials that dominated showroom buzz and magazine covers.

But beyond the hype, Chevrolet built more than 40,000 other Corvettes in St. Louis that year, including the Silver Anniversary edition and the newly styled fastback with its wraparound rear glass.

This particular ’78 has taken on a personality of its own in the decades since it left the factory. Repainted in a striking blue by a previous owner, the car now carries a mild restomod vibe—complete with a towering rear spoiler and chrome 15 inch Pacer wheels that are guaranteed to spark debate. Love them or hate them, they certainly make the car impossible to ignore.

Under the hood, the car runs a replacement 350ci V8 fitted with a revised camshaft, HEI distributor, and Edelbrock carburetor and intake. Since purchasing the car in 2023, the seller has added a high torque starter, adjusted the valves, performed a tune up, and replaced the intake and valve cover gaskets. An oil leak persists—likely from the rear main seal—but the drivetrain remains functional, sending power through a three speed automatic and Positraction rear end. An aftermarket dual exhaust provides the soundtrack.

Inside, the Corvette features black leather bucket seats that present well, along with matching dash, console, and door panels. A custom audio system—Kenwood CD stereo, amplifier, subwoofer enclosure, and aftermarket speakers—adds a modern touch. Power steering, power brakes, and power windows round out the equipment list, though the air conditioning, cruise control, and power antenna are currently inoperative.
