If you ever needed a reminder of how fast things can unravel on a freeway, a recent crash on Interstate 15 delivers it in about three seconds flat.
Drivers near the San Diego–Riverside county line watched a yellow C6 Corvette lose control in a downpour and trigger a violent chain reaction that sent a Ford Super Duty tumbling onto its roof. The entire sequence was captured on video, turning an ordinary lane change into a moment that looked ripped from an action movie.
The wreck unfolded just past Rainbow Valley Boulevard. Social media footage shows the Corvette sliding over a lane as rain hammered the roadway, attempting to slip past the pickup that was in the right lane. Mid move, the rear end snapped loose. The car fishtailed, swung sideways, and shot back toward the truck.
What followed was pure chaos. The Corvette speared nose first into the Super Duty’s side, wedging itself beneath the larger vehicle and launching it into a rollover. The pickup flipped onto its roof as the Corvette ricocheted into a guardrail, spun a full 360 degrees, and came to rest sideways in the middle of the interstate. The driver filming the scene managed to stop just in time, avoiding a second collision.
Despite the violence of the crash, both drivers escaped without serious injuries. The Corvette’s cabin stayed intact, even as its front end and rear quarter were heavily damaged. The Super Duty’s roof collapsed during the rollover, but the driver was able to crawl out and was later evaluated by paramedics, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash shut down two lanes for hours and backed up traffic for miles. More than anything, it underscored a simple truth: even the most capable performance car becomes unpredictable when speed, rain, and slick pavement collide.

So, all the video driver could do was drop a couple “F-bombs” and drive on convinced the truck driver was “dead!?” Where have we gone as a society!?
But AWD sucks, right luddites? It would never help prevent situations like this!
