Corvettes for Sale: L88-Spec 1969 Corvette Coupe Offered on BaT

The first thing you notice is the color. Even in the soft light of a North Carolina morning, the LeMans Blue paint seems to glow. The second thing you notice is the sound. Not the idle, not the rumble—just the promise of it. Because this 1969 Corvette coupe isn’t just another C3 Corvette. It’s a big block, side pipe, L36 turned L88 spec monster built to run on 110 octane.

The selling dealer, Chase, admits he’s been staring at it in his showroom for months. “It’s killing productivity,” he jokes. “One of the prettiest cars I’ve ever owned.”

And it’s easy to see why. The car was refinished in its original LeMans Blue around 2014, paired with a Bright Blue interior that looks like it rolled straight out of a brochure. The L88 style hood, front spoiler, and gleaming side pipes complete the look, though we’re a little “iffy” about the big hood.

Under that hood, nevertheless, sits the heart of the beast: a rebuilt 427ci L36 V8, now wearing L88 spec hardware. Solid lifter camshaft. 12.5:1 compression. Winters aluminum intake and heads. Domed pistons. Doug’s headers feeding those side pipes through chambered glasspacks. Tuned for 110 octane fuel, it’s a throwback to the days when compression was king and gas stations sold race fuel out of the pump.

A Holley vacuum secondary carburetor sits up top, corrected by Chase himself after a bidder pointed it out. MSD ignition components keep the spark sharp, and the whole setup is backed by a four-speed manual transmission and a Positraction rear end with 3.08 gears. “Geared for Ludicrous speed,” Chase says.

The 15-inch Rally wheels are wrapped in Firestone Wide Oval Redlines, and braking is provided by power assisted four wheel discs, with the rear wheel bearings replaced in preparation for the sale. The hideaway headlights and vacuum systems have been refreshed, though a hairline crack on the left fender reminds you this is a real car, not a museum piece.

Inside, the Bright Blue cabin has been reupholstered with new leather, carpets, door panels, and sound insulation. The tilt and telescoping steering column has been rebuilt, the AM/FM radio restored, and the auxiliary gauges replaced.

It’s the kind of Corvette that carries the swagger of late ’60s American horsepower with the upgrades to back it up.
