GM Specialty Vehicles marked its return to Mount Panorama in dramatic fashion this week, unveiling an ultra limited MY26 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Bathurst 12 Hour Special Edition — a road legal tribute to the brand’s GT3.R race effort.
The reveal comes as GM fields two Corvette Z06 GT3.R entries in this weekend’s Bathurst 12 Hour. The Pro lineup features Earl Bamber, Nicky Catsburg, and Alexander Sims, while the Pro Am entry includes Prince Jefri Ibrahim, Prince Abu Bakar Ibrahim, Ben Green, and Jordan Love.
Only a dozen units – one for each hour of the Australian endurance race – will be built.
Built on the track focused 3LZ Coupe with the Z07 Performance Package, the Bathurst edition is designed as the closest road legal counterpart to the Z06 GT3.R that Chevrolet has ever offered in Australia and New Zealand.
The package includes:
• Z07 suspension with Magnetic Selective Ride Control
• Brembo carbon ceramic brakes and Blue brake calipers
• Michelin performance tires
• Full carbon flash-painted aero kit, including ground effects, high wing spoiler, and dive planes
• Exclusive Bathurst 12 Hour Track Decals
In addition to the bespoke treatment of the vehicle, every MY26 Corvette Z06 Bathurst 12 Hour Specialty Edition customer will also receive a tailored Bathurst 12 Hour experience and ownership package, including:
• Bathurst 12 Hour Edition custom artwork print
• Indoor car cover with fully rendered Corvette GT3.R graphic
• Corvette Racing merchandise pack, including cap, polo and jacket
It joins the MY26 Corvette Stingray and E Ray in GMSV’s growing performance lineup for Australian and Kiwi customers.
The Z06 GT3.R marks Chevrolet’s first purpose built GT3 race car, and the Bathurst edition brings that racing pedigree to public roads.
Jess Bala, Managing Director of GM Australia and New Zealand, said the special edition is a direct response to the excitement surrounding Corvette’s Bathurst debut.
“There has been huge enthusiasm for the news that the Corvette Z06 GT3.R is coming to Bathurst, and we wanted to capture that excitement in a car our customers can own and drive on the road,” Bala said.
Bala added that the Bathurst 12 Hour Special Edition will be the only way to secure a MY26 Z06 in Australia and New Zealand.
“The MY26 Corvette Z06 Bathurst 12 Hour Special Edition is our most focused, most exclusive Corvette offering yet for this part of the world,” Bala said. “Pairing our first Bathurst 12 Hour campaign for the Corvette Z06 GT3.R with a bespoke road car for our local customers is a fitting way to celebrate the next chapter in Corvette’s performance story here.”

Lots of Bla-BLA BY Jess Bala, THE AUSTRALIAN MANAGER.
According to the actual standings of practice and qualifying, the two temas are very heavy behind the europeans (Mercedes, BMW, Porsch etc.) and even the one Mustang GT effort is faster that the highly anticipated Corvettes.
It seems that even the factory drivers (Bamber, Catsburg, Sims can do nothing against the incompetivness actually of the Z06R. The same was shown in the Asian Le Mans Series 26,where they failed to bring positive results.
Well, at least according to the article a dozen Australians will be able to get a nice road going Z06. Too bad they have to pay extra for paint, stickers, etc that they may not even care about. That would be my frustration.
