The Torch Red C8 Corvette was already drawing attention before the chase even began. By the time it was over, the car was wrecked, the driver was in custody, and troopers were shaking their heads at what they’d just witnessed.
Newly obtained video from NEA Report shows the Corvette slicing through traffic on Interstate 55 at speeds authorities say reached 156 mph, turning a routine traffic stop into a dangerous, multi state pursuit.
According to an Arkansas State Police report, the chase began around 8:22 a.m. on June 15. Trooper Arellano was running traffic enforcement near the 54 mile marker when he spotted the Corvette heading north with its license plate covered. A quick check showed the registration had expired in March 2026.

When the trooper activated his emergency lights at the next mile marker, the Corvette didn’t hesitate—it bolted. Smoke poured from the exhaust as the driver mashed the accelerator, pushing the car deep into triple digit territory. Radar readings showed the Corvette holding above 150 mph, topping out at 156 as it crossed into Missouri.
Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers were waiting. Near the 4 mile marker, they deployed stop sticks that shredded the Corvette’s left side tires. Even then, no doubt thanks to run-flats, the driver kept going, limping north before exiting onto Missouri Highway 164.
With the Corvette slowing from tire damage, Trooper Arellano pulled alongside to set up a tactical vehicle intervention. But the Corvette braked suddenly, causing the patrol car to strike its rear quarter. Both vehicles came to a disabled stop.

The driver—identified as Jayden Smith—jumped out carrying a black backpack and sprinted into a nearby field. The trooper chased him on foot until Smith finally stopped, raised his hands, and surrendered.
Inside the backpack, officers found two Ram TRX key fobs, a Dodge SRT key fob, and Smith’s driver’s license. While being placed in the patrol car, Smith reportedly shrugged off the wrecked Corvette, telling troopers he wasn’t worried because he would “simply buy another one.”

A search of the Corvette turned up 0.12 grams of suspected marijuana.
Smith was taken to the Pemiscot County Jail in Caruthersville, Missouri, where he awaits extradition. The report lists a long string of allegations: felony fleeing, fleeing on foot, possession of a controlled substance, reckless driving, expired tags, improper display of plates, no insurance, improper lane change, and no seat belt.
Arkansas State Police say they will also seek restitution for the damage to the patrol vehicle.

Entertaining, but I still think those chases are too dangerous for what is accomplished. Hard to hide in a red Corvette, can’t outrun a radio or helicopters, and at that speed you run out of fuel pretty quick – in fact that might be why the dummy slowed down enough to get hit.
Hillbilly cops go, they crazy when you run from them
That cop’s driving leaves a lot to be desired.
Arkansas troopers don’t play.
If you think a police chase is dangerous, be sure to first remember who has initiated it. Smith’s arrogance won’t play well in court. That guy needs to be jailed for a long time.
Highly ignorant ‘state police’ endangering their own, the driver of the Vette and others nearby because of a license problem? Maybe the driver didn’t look white.
Arkansas State Police don’t mess around. They’ve got no problem pitting you into a wall at high speed with many other cars around at high speeds even over simple things like your tint is too dark. They don’t quit chases no matter what. There’s even been fatals from their high speed pits. Yes you shouldn’t run from cops but sometimes is it really worth it? Atleast wait till innocent motorists aren’t around before you go launching someone out of control yknow
How about pulliing over and being polite to the officer, maybe he will let you off with a warning. Ask me how I know.
