At the 2026 Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona, California, crowds stopped in their tracks the moment they reached the Volt + Steel display. There, under the bright hall lights, sat something few people ever expected to see: a fully electric, meticulously reimagined 1958 Chevrolet Corvette—a build known as Project Zero, created by Anthony Valentino and brought to life with the fabrication and paint expertise of AVS Motorsports.
Fresh off its debut at SEMA 2025, Project Zero arrived in Pomona with even more buzz. And for good reason. Beneath its iconic C1 curves lives a thoroughly modern electric powertrain—a 600 horsepower ReVolt Systems motor paired with a full 16 module Tesla battery pack. Despite carrying all that EV hardware, the car still weighs 1,000 pounds less than a Tesla Model S, giving it the kind of instant torque that can turn tires into smoke with a twitch of the accelerator.
“It’ll put a grin from ear to ear,” Valentino said with a laugh when asked if he’d given it “the beans.” Judging by the crowd’s reaction, the grin starts long before the car even moves.
Packing 16 Tesla modules into a 1958 Corvette wasn’t a simple drop in job. Valentino approached the project like a scientist and an artist.
“The first thing I did was scan the whole vehicle,” he explained. “I built a CAD model, mocked up all the components, and then started laying out the systems to make everything worked together.”
The result is a clean, modernized EV architecture hidden beneath classic fiberglass—except for the parts Valentino wanted to show off. The rear trunk area, for example, proudly displays polished aluminum panels and a custom billet cover that reveals eight of the battery modules. “We thought about hiding it,” Valentino said, “but it’s so cool looking. Who drives a ’58 electric Corvette, right? Show it off.”
One of the first things that grabs attention is the car’s striking paint scheme: crisp white, bold blue stripes, and sharp orange accents. Valentino isn’t ready to reveal the inspiration just yet. “If people want to know, they’ve got to come here and ask me,” he teased.
Inside, the craftsmanship continues. Upholstery whiz Ron Maggas created a cabin that blends vintage cues with modern flair—dark blue accents flowing into the gauge cluster and console, orange inlays echoing the exterior striping, and re shaped seats that actually allow full sized adults to fit comfortably in the tiny C1 cockpit. “It’s beautiful work,” Valentino said. “There are even a few hidden touches we tucked into the dash.”
Project Zero celebrates the Corvette’s heritage while pushing the platform into uncharted territory. It’s bold, unexpected, and unapologetically different.

What a shame to ruin a classic like this. I doubt many people would want a Corvette that sounded like a vacuum cleaner. I wonder if they added the fake sound Mopar and others are adding to play a V8 through the stereo system LOL!
A real sin. Figures it was molested in california.
I’m down. I’d love modern performance and handling in a classic. I would never be interested in a C1-C3 with the OEM powertrain.
No thanks.
