Here’s some more ammo to convince your spouse that buying a C8 Corvette is a good idea.
The 2026 J.D. Power U.S. ALG Residual Value Awards, released this week, highlight the vehicles projected to retain the highest percentage of their value after three years, and guess which sports car was among the leaders?
While Tesla and Toyota led the overall brand rankings, the Corvette carved out its own spotlight with a model level award — reinforcing its reputation as a sports car that delivers not only world-class performance but lasting value. The U.S. recognition comes on the heels of the Corvette’s recent residual-value honor in Canada, underscoring its cross-border appeal and consistency.
For enthusiasts and collectors alike, that’s no small thing. A strong residual value signals desirability, disciplined pricing, and enduring demand — qualities the Corvette has cultivated for more than seven decades.
The awards evaluated 300 models across 26 segments, analyzing used vehicle performance, brand outlook, and product competitiveness. To ensure fairness, model averages were weighted by sales mix across trim levels, and each segment required at least four competing model lines to qualify.
Among the 2026 model level winners, the Corvette stood alongside some of the industry’s most respected nameplates. Chevrolet earned two awards overall — Corvette and Silverado 3500 HD — placing the brand in elite company with Toyota, BMW, Lexus, and Tesla. Also on the list was Cadillac’s CT4.
2026 Model Level Residual Value Award Recipients (selected):
• Chevrolet: Corvette, Silverado 3500 HD
• Toyota: GR Supra, GR86, Camry, Sequoia, Tundra, Tacoma
• BMW: 3 Series, 4 Series, X1
• Lexus: NX, RX, LX
• Tesla: Model 3, Model Y, Cybertruck
• Mercedes Benz: AMG GT 4 Door, Sprinter
• Subaru: Crosstrek, Solterra
• Acura: Integra
• Audi: A6
• Cadillac: CT4*
• Ford: Bronco
• Honda: Civic
• Jeep: Wrangler
• Kia: Carnival
*Tied for first place, Compact Premium Car
Residual values play a major role in how automakers set lease pricing and are considered a key indicator of brand health. High retention rates reflect strong product execution, disciplined incentives, and sustained consumer demand — all areas where the Corvette continues to excel.
Forecasting residual values requires analyzing a wide range of variables, including mileage, condition, features, pricing, used vehicle supply, market strategy, seasonality, and broader economic trends. J.D. Power combines extensive transaction data with ALG’s deep expertise to deliver industry leading accuracy in these projections.
For Corvette, the recognition serves as yet another reminder: performance may draw buyers in, but long term value keeps the legend growing.

This is actually a big deal. Cars in the price range of the base Corvette and above do not, in general, have a high resale / residual value BY PERCENTAGE of original MSRP.
Just look at the accompanying chart. No 7 series BMW, or S Class MB etc.
