Corvettes for Sale: This Black Rose 1993 Corvette was Meticulously Cared For, and Now it Can Be Yours for $12,500

Every week, someone posts a “barn find” C4 Corvette for $5,000. The photos – if there are any – always tell the same story: cracked weatherstrip dangling like dental floss, seats that look like they hosted a family of raccoons, and that telltale check engine light glowing like a beacon of despair. “Just needs TLC!” the seller promises, which is code for “prepare to donate a kidney.”

Here’s the math they don’t want you to do: That $5,000 “deal” needs new tires ($800), probably a water pump ($600 with labor), definitely weatherstripping ($400 if you DIY), likely an A/C overhaul ($1,200), and watch out when the OptiSpark distributor decides to OptiQuit ($1,500).

Suddenly your “bargain” is pushing $10,000, and you haven’t even addressed the mystery electrical gremlins or the suspension that sounds like a haunted house or checked with your local body shop for an estimate on a new paint job. Meanwhile, you’re driving around in a rolling project that spends more time on jack stands than pavement.

Enter this Black Rose beauty currently being offered on Craigslist out of Orange Park, Florida for $12,500. We can hear the forums exploding now – that’s wa-a-a-a-y too much for an old C4! Are you crazy, man?

But check the math again. New tires? Already done. Cold A/C? Chilly enough for a penguin. Everything including the original radio still working 32 years later? Miracles happen. This isn’t just about avoiding repair bills—it’s about buying someone else’s meticulous care. Every garage-kept year, every responsible service, every careful mile adds up to a car that’s ready for sunset cruises today, not “someday after I source that impossible-to-find interior trim piece.”

The seller even does a little name-dropping, sharing photos of former C4 celebrity owners like Macho Man Randy Savage (once you’ve seen that picture of him riding the hood of a yellow C4, you can’t unsee it!), Sammy Davis Jr., and Michael Jordan. He even cites the original MSRP ($34,595) to remind you that properly maintained examples hold value while project cars hemorrhage money.

Sure, you could gamble on that sketchy marketplace special and spend your weekends learning intimate details about 1990s GM electrical systems. Or you could buy this one, turn the key, and actually enjoy owning a piece of 40th Anniversary history.

By the way, that Black Rose paint appeared on only 935 cars, just 4 percent of the 21,590 made that year. The rare color looks great against the white leather interior that, believe it or not, is in pretty nice shape.

The seller says he’ll even deliver the car at no extra charge, and if you’re running short on dough, he’s open to partial trades, especially “a good reliable daily driver, preferably something with a backseat.”

Sometimes the expensive car is the cheap car. This might just be one of those times. Who knows, you might wind up singing the top hit of ’93 if you buy this Corvette – “I Will Always Love You.”

  1. A car, any car, accumulating mileage and driven on regular bases ( as opposed to storage or just siting) and well maintained is oft times better than that ‘barn find’.
