“Why not start enjoying an investment by driving it?”
That’s the question from the owner of this 1965 Corvette roadster that’s undergone a metamorphosis over the years.
Born as a red-on-red fuel-injected Sting Ray, this “well-kept” California car has since been repainted silver over a black interior. Now this rejuvenated sports car is up for sale on Craigslist for $62,000 in Lake County, California, northwest of Sacramento.
The refreshed look inside and out isn’t the only change to this Corvette. A fresh big-block 396 with lots of chrome has been installed under the hood, mated with a Muncie M22 four-speed manual transmission and 4.11 geared Positraction rear differential that should provide plenty of punch on takeoff and lots of trips to the gas station. Still, “what a combo!” the seller exclaims.
Other recent additions include all-new bushings and suspension front and rear, a set of tires (over a “nice set” of 15-inch Rally wheels), and a professionally installed black soft top (no hardtop, though).
That lacquer paint job is described as “great looking driver quality,” the glass and chrome are said to be “good,” and the “straight” body sits atop a “clean” chassis.
It all adds up to what the seller terms a “really fun car!” in “amazing condition” that runs and sounds great.
Sometimes the best Corvettes are the ones that stopped trying to impress judges and started trying to scare Mustangs.
