Back when the 2020 Corvette Stingray was first released, one of the hottest and most difficult options to obtain was the 5VM/5W8 carbon fiber ground effects that compliments the Z51 Performance Package. GM developed the Stingray’s ground effects specifically for the model, which not only gave it a sportier look, but the kit can also help reduce drag, improve performance, and increase traction.

Unfortunately, the Stingray’s carbon fiber ground effects package was hit with a number of constraints that first year and it was eventually removed from ordering in July 2020. It would eventually come back as GM raised the price from the initial $4,850 for the 5VM version, and then further restricted the package to only those with Z51 and 3LT orders. It was dropped from the Stingray’s offerings in 2025 due to further supply issues.

In late October, GM announced via a Distribution Update on the 2026 Corvette Order Guide that the two carbon fiber ground effects packages are back on the menu. We have confirmed that the two options are showing on the Build and Buy Configurator when you select a 3LT Trim Package along with the Z51 Performance Package.

The Visible Carbon Fiber Ground Effects (LPO 5VM) is priced at $7,895 and the Carbon Flash Metallic-painted Carbon Fiber Ground Effects (LPO 5W8) is $7,395.

Over the years, the aftermarket has really stepped up and offered some quality alternatives to GM’s pricey ground effects kits, so keep that in mind before you order if you are looking to add an aero package to your Stingray build.

If the C8 Corvette is remembered for anything, it will be the wild ride that owners experienced not only behind the steering wheel, but in all aspects of the car including ordering!

  1. While I can appreciate the carbon option being “AVAILABE”, the Wheel options no matter what they have to offer are by far, the ugliest I have ever seen on a Corvette.
