The recent photos of that the 2019 Arctic White Corvette ZR1 which had the melted fascia really won the internet last week as that story was everywhere!

The C7 ZR1 had set a new top speed record in the unlimited class at the Big Bend Open Road Challenge in Texas. But what really got everyone’s attention is that the after-action photos show the rear fascia had melted due to the intense heat from the exhaust during the 118-mile round trip in which the ZR1 broke 213 mph on its way to the record speed where he averaged 173.004 mph.

We’ve been hoping that there would more to this story that will hopefully come from the ZR1’s owner John Anhalt or those around him. However, we did come across these two videos this morning and OMG you will want to turn your speakers up to 11 because the sound of the ZR1 at full throttle is an amazing experience. Having lived near MacDill Air Force Base for the last thirty years, this is exactly how the various military jets sound as they are taking off!

YouTuber Bobby Worley’s first videos on the platform are from this event and he captured the “Toasted Marshmallow” going both Southbound and Northbound on the 59-mile stretch of U.S. 285 from Fort Stockton to Sanderson. This first video really captures the experience and it’s the longer of the two at just 30 seconds. But what a glorious 30 seconds that is for Corvette fans! For the first 17 seconds you only hear it coming before it finally comes into frame, and then it’s gone with just the ferocious sound from the LT5 falling off in the distance.

We remember back when the C7 ZR1 was first revealed that the quad-center exhaust had the ability to shoot flames and Chevy even promoted that feature in one of its videos which they have since taken down. Another post we featured previously had a C7 ZR1 running at a “COTA After Dark” event and you can see the glowing red-hot exhaust ports that really helps to illustrate how much heat is being generated.

What did you think of that amazing fly-by in the C7 King of the Hill? Let the Corvette Nation know your thoughts!
