Forget the barn finds – an enthusiast who doesn’t want to get his hands dirty might want to consider this 1959 Corvette convertible that’s already been nicely restored.
After spending $30,000 over the last three years in the restoration of this vintage C1 Corvette, the owner has decided to part with it on Craigslist, where it’s being offered out of Burlingame, California – a little southeast of San Francisco.
The listing doesn’t go into a lot of detail, but we’re told that the restoration efforts included attention to the body, red paint with white coves (with photos showing the work in progress), white ragtop, emblems, bumpers, moldings, and carpeting inside.
Under the hood is a big-block 454 with a Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic transmission that was installed by the prior owner. No word on what other mechanical work has been completed
The photos aren’t the best in the world, but if you’re looking for a first-generation Corvette, this appears to be a nice one. It’s being offered with an asking price of $61,995.
The 1959s cleaned up the ostentatiousness of the ’58s by removing their simulated hood louvers and twin chrome trunk spears. Door panels were also redesigned, with armrests relocated for more elbow room, and the instruments were upgraded to offer better legibility and less light reflection. A storage bin was added under the passenger grab bar. It was also the first year that black interiors were offered.
