Late on Friday afternoon, Chevrolet sent their dealers a new communication about the part and the process needed to fix the Corvette Z06s and ZR1s that have been subject to a Stop Sale and voluntary recall since August 21st. It seems that what we heard was correct in that the parts were beginning to ship this week, and thanks to our friend Rick Conti for getting these details out quickly.

GM is calling this repair process a phased launch, which will essentially address the dealer inventories of Stop Sale Corvette Z06s and ZR1s first, and then customer recall Z06s will happen afterwards. Today those dealers with Stop Sale Corvette Z06s and ZR1s were contacted with the part number for the new fuel diverter shield and Rick says it should be just a couple of days before those parts hit their inventory and those cars can be repaired.

With those Stop Sale Corvettes now repaired, they are now eligible for sale once again, and any customer that has been waiting can finally take their new baby home.

Chevrolet says that parts are NOT available yet for the 2023-2024 Corvette Z06 and certain 2025 Z06 and ZR1s, which means that customers will have to continue to wait for the parts to be available. Chevy says dealers will be notified when additional parts become available which they anticipate will happen by the end of November 2025. We do know that GM will be sending customers a second letter once those parts are available and then they can now make their service appointments to have the swap done.

Officially, the part is called a “Filler Neck Seal Panel” and the GM Part Number is 86371991. This part is in regard to the Safety Recall #N252514930 Fire Risk During Fuel Fill.

Conti shares the replacement process and it does look like the five-minute fix that we heard about.

  1. Or, you know, you could just rotate the gas nozzle 180° as you remove it, like we’ve done for like a century, so you don’t spill gas all over your paint job. Just a thought…
