The C8 Corvette Z06/ZR1 recall and Stop Sale Notice has been making national headlines again this week as outlets like the Wall Street Journal have picked up on the excess fuel spillage issue, which has led to a small number of C8 Corvette Z06s catching fire during refueling.
Thanks to our friend Rick ‘Corvette’ Conti, we now have some good news to share regarding insert diverter that will need to be installed on the more than 25K Z06/ZR1s that were subject to the recall/stop sale notice.
Rick is reporting that the new 2026 Z06s and ZR1s at the plant that were completed and then held due to the Stop Sale notice are now getting those inserts added, and new Corvettes that are coming down the assembly line are having those installed as part of the assembly process. He believes that dealers will be getting these parts in any day now to start installing them.
He also tells us that he can see an inventory list of his cars at the assembly plant waiting to ship, and nearly all are no longer flagged with the Stop Sale notification.
We asked our friends at Chevrolet to confirm if the new parts are being installed at the factory, and we were referred to their previous statement on Friday.
Conti also reminded viewers that “if you own a Z06/ZR1 with a blocked warranty, the recall will be done at no cost to you regardless.”
This new info comes from a Tech Tuesday video which opens with Rick and his Corvette technician Chuck answering some viewer questions including an email about an owner with 0% oil life showing on his monitor.
Thanks again to Rick for bringing us this crucial information!

That’s a sharp looking white Z06 in the main photo…I might be biased as it was my car!!! 😂👍
GOOD
Leave it up to GM to basically forget the “customers” who have already purchased these potential fire bombs. Instead, they are equipping the cars that can be sold when they reach the dealers so they can “cash in these unsold models”. Meanwhile every Z06 owner, which includes myself, must be careful when refueling our cars so as not to have them burn to the ground. Thanks GM for keeping your “customers” welfare somewhere in mind! Meanwhile, all you Z06 and ZR1 owners, be very careful when refueling your cars lest they catch on fire and burn up.
Remember the day when you turned the ignition key, pulled the emergency brake, turned the radio and headlights on with a knob, pushed the clutch in, shifted into first gear, then blasted off in your $7000 454 Corvette.
Michael What wheels are they ?
Hey RWC, still got my 70 454 4 speed Daytona Yellow Coupe. I bought it back in 73 when I was 19. My Mom was sure I would kill myself in it but I remember eavesdropping on a conversation she was having with my grandmother. Grandma said “Oh just let him go ahead and get it. In 6 months he’ll get tired of it and sell it.” 😊
The only fire sale at GM: the CEO just sold 49 percent of her shares in September’25“ Mary Barra’s transaction follows a significant sell-off from several other General Motors insiders over the past six months, including 51,471 shares sold by company Vice President and CAO Christopher Hatto, as well as 23,977 shares sold by company Executive Vice President Rory Harvey, resulting in an estimated $2.89 million and $1.27 million, respectively. Mary Barra alone has sold 994,863 shares during this period(Jan-Aug 2025) generating an estimated total of $57.93 million. Notably, there have been no major insider purchases during the same timeframe frame. Source: GM Authority
