A frugal enthusiast looking to break into the Corvette hobby might want to take a look at this 2005 coupe under $20,000.
In fact, this first-year C6 Corvette seems to have a lot going for it, not the least of which is the owner’s “firm” price of just $19,000 on Craigslist out of Rancho Bernardo, California, north of San Diego.
This Machine Silver over silver leather coupe is described as being in “very nice condition inside and out” by the seller, and his listing photos appear to support the claim that it’s always been garaged and covered, with no accidents.
Many enthusiasts will also be thrilled to find a six-speed manual gearbox, mated with the standard 400-horsepower LS2 V8 engine.
This isn’t a stripped-down model, either. It’s got the Z51 package with special shocks and springs, larger sway bars, larger cross drilled brake rotors, and engine oil, power steering, and transmission oil coolers.
Other features include head-up display, cruise control, memory package, heated power seats, satellite radio, OnStar, Bose sound system, and two removable tops (one in body color and one transparent).
The owner says the car – which has 63,130 miles – is in “all original, stock condition” except for aftermarket mufflers, though an extra set of stock mufflers “in perfect condition” is being thrown in, too. The tires and brakes are said to be in “good” condition, and a new battery has been installed. Two working fobs and the original manuals are included.

19K is hardly “starter” money, I think a “starter” Corvette deal would be a ’74 -’76 for 2-3K. On the other hand, this looks like a great deal. I’m close by and might have to check this one out.
Z51s throughout the history of the marque tend to ride and shift roughly like a truck;
unless the beginner has mastered double-clutching it might be better to go stock with a 6-speed;
delving back into smog and single exhaust (started in 1975) technology of half a century ago would akin to going from an F-86 back to a Jenny;
I have just the starter vet you’re looking for. It’s a 1976 Stingray w/t tops all original 350 auto . New tires original rally wheels runs but needs brakes been in garage since purchased from estate sale. Asking 4500 but will take a reasonable offer just don’t have time to work on it and want it see it go to good home.
