All-black Corvettes have a mean look, and this 1972 convertible is no exception.
In fact, it looks downright menacing.
After being owned and “exceptionally well maintained” by the same owner in Canada for the past 30 years, this vintage Stingray is now being offered by a classic-car dealership through eBay, where 37 bids have climbed to $22,771, with the auction coming to a halt on Thursday afternoon.
Still under the hood is the original numbers-matching 350/200 horsepower V8 engine, mated with a Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission.
The car has been professionally repainted once over the past 53 years, and the seller claims it still presents “beautifully with a clean, glossy finish.”
Furthermore, getting ready for the auction, it’s been “thoroughly detailed from top to bottom, front to back,” he says.
Features include the original black leather interior with the woodgrain custom interior trim, a $158 option back in the day, along with power steering, power brakes, four-wheel disc brakes, black convertible soft top, full factory gauge package, vintage aftermarket Kenwood AM/FM cassette stereo, new 15×8 Rally wheels, and new BFGoodrich Radial T/A 255x60R15 tires – not to mention the chrome front and rear bumpers that bowed out partially in ’73 and totally in ’74.
With 71,791 miles, the car is “a testament to its careful preservation,” the seller says, adding that it still “runs and drives amazing.”
“Whether you’re looking to show, drive, or simply enjoy a classic, chrome-bumper Corvette,” he says, “this example is well worth your serious consideration.”
