A heavily refurbished 1971 big-block Corvette convertible is looking for a new home.
Located in Valencia, California, the owner of this chrome-bumper red-on-red C3 Corvette appears to have done much of the heavy lifting for the next caretaker.
But, don’t be mistaken, all that extra effort will cost you. The asking price on the Craigslist listing for this Stingray that has a nicely detailed LS5 454/365 horsepower V8 engine hidden under the hood is a whopping $49,500.
For that bundle of money, though, you do get a lot. The seller notes that the numbers-matching engine and Turbo-Hydramatic automatic transmission have been rebuilt, along with much of the driveline with a new steering box, front end bushings, ball joints, U-joints, and, well, “most everything [has been] gone over and [freshened] up over the last seven years,” he says, adding “I have receipts!”
After all that work, he promises it’s turned into a “nice driving car” and says he even has the original snorkel air cleaner that will be included with the sale.
Among the features on the car are air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, and tilt-tele steering wheel. In those days, they didn’t necessarily call it a dipped interior as with the C8, but the color red definitely dominates this cockpit, which is in excellent condition, by the way.
“Ready and great for the summer,” the seller says of his vintage roadster, but if you expect a much better price, don’t bother low-balling as he adds, “Don’t waste our time.”
