Corvettes for Sale: 1970 Corvette with a 454 V8 and a Five-Speed Transmission

Update: We incorrectly titled this post as the car having a four-speed manual when it’s equipped with a five-speed manual transmission. I apologize for the error.

When you’re behind the wheel of a chrome-bumper C3 Corvette, it doesn’t take much to stand out in a crowd.

Add in some custom parts as on this 1970 convertible for sale on Craigslist in Somersworth, New Hampshire, and you’re definitely going to attract even more attention whether you’re rolling down the highway or just sitting at a cruise-in.

This custom Stingray, with an asking price of $39,999, has been modified with a custom widebody design with integrated flares, sealed nose with hidden headlights, and molded side skirts – “no bolt-on parts,” the seller boasts.

Throw in the aggressive black-on-black color scheme with a silver stinger hood, a big-block 454 V8 engine paired with a five-speed manual transmission, and a custom Kenwood sound system, and you’ve got one of the coolest ’70s around.

It’s hard to tell from the photos with the listing, what kind of condition the paint is in, though the body doesn’t show any signs of wear and tear, other than a slightly nicked corner on one of the distinctive side vents that adorned the ’70-’72s. The black interior, meanwhile, isn’t in pristine condition, but appears more than acceptable for a driver.

No word is provided by how long ago the transformation of this Stingray was undertaken, so we don’t know if it was done “back in the day” or more recently. Are you ready to climb behind the wheel of this “groovy” Corvette described by its owner as “one of a kind?”

  1. OMG, I have loved Corvettes since my dad came home in 1965, what a beauty, blue like I had ever since top was down, we went for a ride and at 12 there would always be my love. But since the years rolled by it got to the point where I just couldn’t afford, now my dreams are shattered there is no way, the new ones wow, but beer pockets can’t buy the best. I would love a white 2016, but that’s in a dream. You people who have on one cherish them and drive with the wind in your face and smile……

  2. Did anyone else notice the title of the article is Corvette with a four speed transmission and then the 3rd paragraph states it’s a five speed. Nothing to fret about but you just can’t get good, clear, straight information anywhere anymore. Certainly it didn’t take that long to write this short description after writing the title so how do you go from 4 speed to 5 speed and not catch it. They probably even had AI help. Rant over. Hope everyone gets the car they want eventually
