[PICS] This Hysteria Purple Z06 Looks Very Smooth When Topped with a Satin PPF

For the 2025 Corvette model year, Chevrolet introduced a new Hysteria Purple Metallic as one of three new colors for the model year. So far, the color has been doing very well as it’s ranked 7th out of 10 (and just 1 unit behind 6th place Riptide Blue) when we looked at the 2025 Exterior Color production numbers last week.

Those of us who have chosen to outfit our 2025 Corvettes in Hysteria Purple Metallic love the color due to its color-changing abilities. You’ve seen the pics. In the sun the car is a dark Indigo (or Blurple as my son calls it) as the metallic fake comes through and really makes it pop. In the shade or indoors, the color turns a very pleasing grape.

However, we just got another cool look at what an owner can do with Hysteria Purple. This 2025 Corvette Z06 Convertible just hit the detailers shop to receive a Satin paint protection film (PPF) and then all surfaces were topped with a ceramic coating. The result on the Hysteria is very cool as it really seems to bring out the purple of the car even under the bright detailing lights of KP Elite’s detailing shop in Chester Springs, PA where these photos originated from.

The Satin PPF does a very good job to suppress Hysteria’s metallic flake, leaving behind a very nice Deep Purple in its place. The Z06 Convertible is also outfitted with the Bronze Spider accessory wheels which really gives it a custom look over the standard black or polished wheels.

Here’s the Instagram post featuring the car:

Unfortunately, we only see the car inside the shop, as a commentor says these pictures doesn’t do any justice to the car as the matte really works on Hysteria. What do you think about satin PPF on this Hysteria Purple Metallic 2025 Corvette Z06? Let us know in the comments below!

UPDATE
The owner of the car, Missy Plunkett shared a photo of the car in the sun on our Facebook post. You can see it below:

  1. I am not normally a fan of the satin wraps on any car, but this one looks really good on the hysteria. Still not sure I would do it myself, but I like this one.

  2. I’ve never liked satin wraps or satin PPF on any color car. I especially don’t see any sense in spending all that money to cover a car with pretty metallic paint with a flat looking satin PPF. You buy a car with glossy metallic paint because of the cool way it pops and shimmers in the sun and enhances the look of the car and makes it stand out.

  3. Unfortunately, this is quite similar to my original plan–which is no longer possible. I was going to get a 2024 E-Ray in AYM and satin PPF wrap it. Thanks to GM’s standard “OPUD”, the 2024 E-Ray production was incredibly nerfed, and then GM promptly added insult to injury by discontinuing AYM for 2025.

I am confident that most of the “eye-searing” complaints lodged against AYM are actually mitigated–handily–by a satin finish. And it would be a very, very unique satin finish.

Hysteria doesn’t strike me as very distinct from colors I’ve seen on M4’s or Tacomas. So satin PPF on those vehicles generates a similar effect. AYM…is extremely unique. And sorely missed.
